You never have to worry at a bodybuilding show. You can worry enough at the gym, in the kitchen...

Seems to me from that video that Ronnie has a lot of patriotism for the USA.  The Challenge Round was a big change and I'm not sure if the Olympia was the right show to implement it in and the concept was short-lived.

Did anyone here go to an Olympia at the Mandalay Bay?  I heard it was better when the expo was in the hotel and it makes sense that fans would like it more when they can go trick or treating and can drop their supplements off in the hotel and walk right back and get more.

But to answer the original question, I don't think that Ronnie was worried in his career and in fact, he told Lonnie Teper at the 2005 Olympia afterparty that he wanted to go for 10 Sandows.

Exactly.  They wanted to stir things up a little, probably to see how it would affect ticket sales.  I'm not sure how it worked out but it was neat to watch.  They must all feel like death on contest day though.

This kind of WWF-like approach to bodyuilding is garbage.

Bodybuilding doesn't need this kind of immature attempt at machoism.

Next thing you know, the bodybuilders will be asked to wear costumes...

It's so funny when the good guys use the word "invasion". I think that word has pretty negative associations.

I went to the 2001 Olympia at the Mandalay Bay..it was awesome.....and yes it was much better to have the expo at the site of the Olympia itself...had lots of fun and ran into a lot of bodybuilders since they were all staying in the hotel and you'd walk on to the elevator and see them getting on or off.....I didn't even know there was an expo but then I ran into Chris Cormier and Gunter Schlierkamp getting off the elevator...Gunter was wearing an ill-fitting tuxedo for some reason.....Chris was dressed casual with braids...I was intimidated since it was the first time I ever saw bodybuilders from the mags up close....I wanted to shake their hands but was too pussy to ask...LOL

I followed them as they walked through the casino...(I know, epic stalking) and they went into the expo....and I went in as well....felt like I was in wonderland with all the muscle-tech stuff being given away for free and all the other BB'ers walking around....saw Lou Ferrigno an started to shake his hand and ask for a pic but then he said it would be $20...I was shocked and just stood there for awhile looking at him and then left shaking my head

Dexter looked a million times better than the lot of them in that footage.

As for Ronnie and his mouth... apparently it is a good thing he has muscles to make up for it.

That was from 2004. It was the most entertaining Olympia with the challenge round and by far the best lineup of the 21st century.

Words fail. Its lame enough in combat sports, where they actually have to fight each other after lol.

More gay than big achs dress up time and prancing around like a fairy.
