"Cain: If Al Qaeda Demanded It, I’d Consider Freeing Every Gitmo Prisoner For The Release Of An American Soldier"

THIS is the problem with someone who is so new to diplomacy.  The same way a foolish Obama agreed to meet Achmedijahad in the first year without preconditions.  Foolish.

he's backpeddaling now - trying to explain what he really meant.  "I didn't hear the question correctly...."

BLITZER: Could you imagine if you were president…and there were one American soldier who had been held for years and the demand was al Qaeda or some other terrorist group, “You got to free everyone at Guantanamo Bay” – several hundred prisoners at Guantanamo. Could you see yourself as president authorizing that kind of transfer?

CAIN: I could see myself authorizing that kind of transfer but what I would do is I would make sure that I got all of the information. I got all of the input, considered all of the options. And then, the president has to be the president and make a judgment call. I can make that call if I had to.

having preconditions before talking is stupid imo.  The only thing that's ever going to achieve is enemies never talking again and just going all in on war and war preparation.  But Obama didn't really mean any of that shit anyway.  Ron Paul does though.

On this Cain statement, it's not going to go over well with neocons.

ronpaul called out reagan for trading terrorists with iran for hostages.

santorum went on a rant defending it.

then newt agreed with ronpaul and said 'actually in his memoirs, reagan said that was his biggest regret...."

Santorum shouldn't even be invited to these debates. It's crazy how much time he gets. All he's actually good at is sniping Perry.

Cain just said "I misspoke" about it.  Admitted he was wrong.  these gaffes are adding up quickly.

just liek the other GOPers... they get the spotlight, and they melt under it.  It's happening here too.

Romney is gonna win it.  He has his dbag moments, but he's not melted

Cain just admitted he only has THREE ppl in new hampshire.

Now he's talking about his book tour.  on CNN.  Really?  his book tour has more organization and ppl than his presidential run?

jeez...

I told you guys, Cain is full of these stupid mistakes and flip flops. Full of em. Not too bright, but I'm sure everyone who supports him will figure it out once it's too late.

ten months ago, romney had teams working in all these states already:

Cain has $3 mil and 3 people working in NHampshire.

Yeah, he's the flavor of week.  Romney will win it.  it won't be close.

I am close to getting banned at FR for saying I will vote for mittens if he is the nominee.  LOL.

i got in 3 posts at DU and I got the boot.

I asked for a link showing precisely how the F&F plan was modeled after Dubya, point by point.

moderator told me "this place is for democrats, which you obviously are not..."

I just asked for facts - show me what obama copied so I can argue with 33 on GB.  And i was banned :(

cain is melting in the spotlight.  the problem is NOT his intelligence or pride (see bachmann or perry).  It's not his ego or understanding of topics (see trump).

He's fading in the spotlight because he's immature and doesn't know how to be the leader.  He keeps apologizing "I just dont want to offend anyone..."

Hey, if youre POTUS, youre gonna do a helluva lot of offending, domestically and abroad.  He has fear in his eye of being the flavor of the month. Of tasting that 1st place crust, then losing it.  And he will :(

He's immature.  He gets excited and wants to please everyone.  Romney USED to do this.  Not now.

EXACTLY. In a perfect world, 9-9-9 would be perfect. But in an imperfect world it is unworkable in government. Cain is showing his lack of governent experience.

More flip flopping.

Pella, Ia. – Georgia Republican Herman Cain has previously said he favors a return to the gold standard, but today he said he has changed his mind.

“One of my economic advisers said that it’s going to be more difficult than practical,” Cain told The Des Moines Register after a speech to a conservative group in Pella. “So yes, I want to return to a standard. But I’m the type if I’m wrong, I’m going to say, yeah.”

During his campaign speech, the presidential contender said he’s not sure “whether we could get all the way back to gold or not, I don’t know.”

I said 2 weeks ago that if Cain debated Obama it would look like amatuer hour and everything I've seen from Cain in the last two weeks just reinforces that.   Cain would look like a child.

so to be clear -

cain doesn't know china has nukes.
he would release all of gitmo if 1 US troop is taken hostage
he wants an electrified fence with big signs on it.
he's anti abortion but wants the govt to stay out of it, while banning it legislatively

oh, and he likes to lie nonstop about the sex charges.

yeah, sounds like that 3 am phone call will actually be cain calling a 900 number...
