Title: Dreams
Post by: The Ugly on October 21, 2011, 04:29:53 PM
Why can't I punch or run in them? Is this common?

I have the same thing. My dreams lately are very dark though, I am always being hunted or killed by something I cannot see, it lurks in the dark and when I wake up I have to turn my light on very quickly or it will get me in my bedroom.

Listen to the band Lucid Delusion right before you go to bed. It will make you want to punch the fck out of everything in your way.

dreams are just subconscious thoughts i was going to make a thread of this because say for instance if you fear something in life it will manifest as a random fear in your dream.

so in other words if you feel like you are lacking something in real life youll have this same desire in your dream and more than likely manifest into something good or attainable

we create our own dreams as we experience them. 99% of people 99% of the time dont realize it and just allow their subconscious to do the creating...

during REM sleep our brains are extremely active, most likely consolidating memories from the day, and all the neural activity makes your conscious self believe that it is awake and experiencing something.. since the only other time neural activity happens is when we are being active.

our subconscious tries to make sense of all the nueral activty and throws images, feelings, and sensations in front of our "eyes".. makes us feel as if we are awake. all the things that have recentl been on our mind, our attitudes, our beliefs, and our current trains of thought manifest themselves into dreams.

if you are aware that your dreaming, you can conciously take over the experience and start to create your own experience. doing whatever you wish, in whatever environment you wish...

you simply feel like you are sorrounded by people whom dislike you you feel as if they wish you harm , this is why you dream like this. remember we manifest our reality , perhaps you do not wish to feel this way, maybe try harder to make peace with those around you

i rarely if ever have a bad dream, i have made peace with my sorroundings aswell, this is why i have good dreams

Very accurate assessment, I am impressed. I trust no one, and I often feel people laugh at me behind my back, always talk bad about me.

FUnny thing, the only person to keep me grounded is my chemistry professor. I tell him from time to time what I go through, and he always knows what to say to keep me grounded and on the right track. I believe he is one of the few who truly cares.

This world is such a dark and uncaring place, I truly wish I had never been born. This is not an easy world or an easy time to live in. People aren't nice, they are not nice to one another, everyone is greedy and self serving. I can totally understand why so many jump off bridges or slash their wrists, there isn't a bright sunshiny world out there waiting for you with open arms. There are just drug dealers and robbers, con men, bankers, politicians, everywhere you look, evil manipulative people waiting for you to fuck up so they can take something from you.

True to a certain extent, but not everyone is that way and you personally have the choice to be a good person and lead by example.

Being capable while working is very different than being happy go lucky on a day to day basis.

You think all of your doctors and nurses are perfect people behind the scenes? Of course not, let's not be irrational.

The key thing is, can you PERFORM when called upon? I have been tested and yes I believe I can. What I do on my own time is my own business. Think twice before you assume doctors live perfect lives, trust me they do not, but they will make correct decisions when it comes time to give you advice as they are professionals.

Don't try to lecture, I have quite a few family members in the medical profession.  All types.  And to think that dwelling on how bad the world is, how others can slit their wrist, jump off bridges, etc... is NOT "I do on my own time is my own business."  If you think so, list your above rant/pity party on your med school applications and see how far you get.

All I was trying to say is that the VAST majority of people in the medical field at least have a small appreciation for life.  In your above post you certainly didn't display even the tiniest hint.  Sorry.

How can you not tell I am venting? I suppose I could line my posts with neon. We all have our good days and bad, I am a great person and normally love life. That said I am also bi-polar (type 2) and get into a funk here and there.

However, no matter how bad the funk I am in i can always perform as expected. That part never changes. All professionals share a common thread in that they are always capable when called upon. Same for me. Appreciate the concern though.

its good not to be a pussy many have a difficult time performing jobs and tasks because they eat bad or have emotional issues

but everyday after work is a challenge to keep the mind occupied onto something new and fun in order to not get in a funk

groink needs to get better with self reasoning when he gets down

he needs to learn better at how to CONVINCE himself that things are ok and that there are interesting things in life, he needs to let his brain brainstorm more and try to understand more things his mind has yet to tap into .

even at my young age i know finding new things gets ever more difficult but there always seems to be a way to keeping the peace of mind after work

Ditto. Happens at least once or twice a week without fail for me. 2-3 days ago, I had a lucid flying dream and I could actually control the flight fully, whereas I'd normally struggle and slow down, also losing altitude. Just about the most amazing feeling ever.

I have 2 sets of dreams (maybe more) - first is during when I'm sleeping my usual 6-8 hours, which I barely remember, although I can tell I've been dreaming from flashes of memory that quickly fade away. After I'm awake, I snooze for maybe 20-30 mins before waking up and it's during the snooze period that I have the flying/gliding dreams. These ones are usually lucid and I remember them clearly. Great way to start the day.

I tend to have nightmares on tren. Weird part is, I can never remember them. In fact, I don't see anything when I fall asleep, I just sense something is trying to get me, and it keeps me up.

you just have to change your train of thought before you go to sleep whatever you are thinking about in life go for that thought or make that thought different, experiment and then hope to see what dreams may be given to you
