Read. A. Fcking. book.
When Gregory then asked Cain whether he was a "neoconservative," the presidential hopeful admitted he had no idea what Gregory was talking about.
"I'm not sure what you mean by neoconservative," said Cain. "I am a conservative, yes. Neoconservative -- labels sometimes will put you in a box. I'm very conservative."
"But you're familiar with the neoconservative movement?" asked Gregory.
"I'm not familiar with the neoconservative movement," admitted Cain. "I'm familiar with the conservative movement. Let me define what I mean by the conservative movement -- less government, less taxes, more individual responsibility."

And this effects us how? How about telling Obama to get the fuck out LA and quit stopping traffic on LaCienega at 9:20pm. What's worse, Cain and this stupid ass article or Holder not knowing what Fast and Furious is?
-
I can't imagine Cain doesn't know anything about the neoconservative movement. You'd have to have had your head in the sand for the last 15 years lol...

No one was comparing the two but you. How could he not be familiar with neo conservatism? Pretty basic.

It's a thinly veiled attempt at denying that he actually is one.

We're comparing cain with perry, and romney. NOT OBAMA.
Cain is either HIGHLY uneducated, or he's being dishonest here. the neoconservative agenda, bush doctrine, and overall shift of GOP ideals from 2000 to 2008 was huge. the shift from 2008 to 2011 was huge too.
If he doesn't know the history of his own party - or he just doesn't want to confirm/deny he agrees with them, to avoid pissing people off - he's either showing a huge lack of brains, or balls. Which?

You really work at looking stupid on here don't you? Come back and try again with the topic at hand.

I think Cain wants the neocon vote, and he wants the nw tea party, anti-neocon, vote.
So, he avoids commenting on if he agreed with them or not.
Which is fine if you're a typical politician. However, if you want to be the one guy who delivers straight talk - then do it. Cain claims to be the one anti-DC guy who shoots it straight. Okay, tell us why you worked for Koch for 5 years, worked as a DC lobbyist for years - and now "I just don't want to offend anyone..."
typical politician. Will melt. Romney has this.

take Fountain.
-
As I said last year, Romney has the nomination in the bag.
At the most, Cain could have kept his mouth shut for the most part and been a shoo-in as VP on any ticket the GOP can come up with. But look what happened.
Oh well... we all know the most dynamic and best candidates for the GOP are not going to show their faces until 2016 anyway.

33,
do you think Cain really doesn't know what 'neoconservative' means - after working in DC as he did?
Or, do you think he's lying when he says that? And if so why?
And if he's not lying, and not uninformed - what is the deal?
-
He is just two face shit talking. Watch all the lemmings rush to spin it.

Well, people called others Neo-Cons - dont remember if they labeled themselves that. Just saying.

that's not what he said:
"I'm not familiar with the neoconservative movement"
He's NOT FAMILIAR with it? He is that unfamiliar with the history of his own party? That's dangerously underqualified, IMO. How can you not fall into a neocon trap, if you aren't even FAMILIAR with it? I'm not asking for an in-depth analysis - just be fmailiar with it!
Sheesh. I think he's full of shit - as he was IN WASHINGTON at the height of the neocon movement, working as a lobbyist, talking to congress every day.
SO he's probably just lying.

Dude...seriously. No one look more stupid than liberals...I mean really.

You do.
Seriously. I mean, really. Which makes me wonder are you naturally this stupid or do you put work into it?

this is kind of a funny flashback.
Anybody remember when neoconservatives like David Frum and Richard Pearle tried to pretend they didn't exist and "neoconservative" was just a code word made up by anti-semites lololol.... They said, they were just conservatives like any other and those using the term neocon or neoconservative were just racists.
"these media people speaking in their own code language. A case in point is their use of the term 'neoconservative.' Whether they choose to hyphenate the label or not, it's a pejorative code word for 'Jews.' That's right. They use it as a way to say guys like Bill Kristol, Irving Kristol, Charles Krauthammer, Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz, Norman Podhoretz, John Podhoretz and others are just trying to support Israel at the USA's expense"--Rush
I guess they forgot that THEY are the ones that originally created the term and wrote/talked of the movement often before Bush was even in office lolol...
That was classic WTF...
-
Great answer Mr. Cain. :) He should say the same thing when asked about the "Bush Doctrine," the "Obama Doctrine," or any other dumb useless political phrase floating around out there.

I was going to post something similar to this. Cain could be just being dismissive of the term. Although without hearing the actual conversation, I'm not sure of the entire context of the question.
-

Dick Cheney used the phrase in 2003.
"If there is anyone in the world today who doubts the seriousness of the Bush Doctrine, I would urge that person to consider the fate of the Taliban in Afghanistan, and of Saddam Hussein's regime in Iraq.''
Now bring me a sandwich.

Are liberal and conservative just useless political phrases floating around? A group of people who chose to define themselves as neoconservative as apposed to conservative had direct influence on the presidency for 8 years and that's just useless to know about? Is the neoconservative movement the exact same as conservative? Nope...
What would be wrong with Cain saying something like, yes I am familiar with it but I don't identify with neoconservatism because XYZ...
Of course BB would think it's a useless political phrase, he didn't think neoconservatism even excisted!!!! lol...

because he doesn't want karl rove using him as a punching bag ala rick perry. He doesn't want ot offend those morons who high-five and get hard at the thought of more war. he wants to be everything to everyone.
The minute he says "I support or do not support the neocons", he loses 5 or 6 points. Period. The more you learn about a candidate, the more votes he/she LOSES. It's why perry, ,cain, everyone is top when they're unknown, then as their positions and behaviors are exposed, they plummet.
Ask rudy and fred thompson about that.

so you're saying he has a good reason for not saying anything?
-
so you're saying he has a good reason for not saying anything?
politically - YES.
He will alienate either the hardcore neocons - and they're out there, whether they admit it or not - or he will alienate those tea party repubs who dislike the neocons greatly.
So by playing dumb... "I am no familiarrrrr with them" he can put this onion peeling process off a bit longer.
Mind you, he will have a better prepared answer next time he sees a microphone, bet on it. And idiots will say "See, that makes sense, he doesn't offend anyone". But cain knew that owning/disowning them woudl cost him votes.
Same way christie would be #1 on every poll... until voters discovered his liberal record was a lot like Mitt's.
So it's smart politics, but morally hypocritical since Cain can't stop patting himself on the back saying "be careful piers, you might just get the straight answer from a no-nonsense candidate like myself".
IMO, anyone who brags about their integrity, usually needs to work on it. Anyone who brags about how little they lie, is probably lying.
