Obama Bans Photographers From LA Fundraisers With Rich Donors, Allows Them In At Chicken Shop
The White House wants you to see President Obama bash the rich, and everyone in the press corps is invited to cover the various rallies and speeches where he claims average people can’t get a break and the wealthy aren’t paying their fair share of taxes. . . .
So not surprisingly, news photographers were barred from both of Obama’s L.A. fundraisers Monday. The best the public could do was get bare-bones written descriptions of the events that give only a hint of the lavishness that surrounded the president.
From the press pool report at the first fundraiser:
The President appeared at an intimate fund-raising dinner at the home of James and Mai Lassiter in LA’s Hancock Park area. He spoke softly to guests sitting at four tables, 8-10 seats per table. Tickets cost $35,800 per person.
Actor Will Smith, looking dapper in a three piece suit, stood near the back of the room and watched. Boston Celtics nemesis Magic Johnson sat at a table to the president’s right.
Pool was ushered out after 10 minutes, as potus opened it up for questions.
And from the second:
About 8:20 p.m. local time, pool was led to the rear of the imposing Spanish-style mansion of Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith and into a large white tent where about 200 people sat in folding chairs, just as someone said “the program” would continue soon. That gave the crowd, who paid at least $5,000 each, time to ogle the riff-raff of the Fourth Estate as we took our seats at the rear.
Soon, to enthusiastic applause, the hosts and POTUS entered with Eva Longoria, who introduced the president, as folks stood holding cameras and cellphones above their heads.
Meanwhile, news photographers were welcomed earlier in the day when Obama made an unscheduled stop at Roscoe’s House of Chicken ’n Waffles in West L.A., where he ordered the No. 9, “Country Boy” — 3 wings with choice of waffle, potato salad or French fries for $8.90.
Because that’s who Obama is supposed to be.

Remember, folks, Obama is one of us. Just ignore all that partying he does with celebrities and those $35,000/plate fundraisers. He's really just one of the little guys!
Between this and him hiring a Wall St. lobbyist for his campaign I can't help but feel sorry for all the suckers that go to bat for this douche.

Thought he understood what the OWS crowd was feeling and going through, lol.
-
bfd - it's not a public event
maybe the people who paid 38k prefer privacy

Disappointed Democrats protest Obama's SF visit

In a powerful display of profound disappointment with President Obama, some of the Democratic Party's biggest donors gathered Tuesday - not inside his tony San Francisco fundraiser at the W Hotel, but outside on the sidewalks carrying signs in protest of his policies.
"I don't even know what he stands for," said Susie Tompkins Buell, a co-founder of the Esprit de Corps clothing company and one of the most generous Democratic Party donors in the nation - instrumental in backing such powerhouse progressive organizations as the Democracy Alliance and Media Matters.
Tompkins Buell, a longtime friend of Hillary Rodham Clinton who was among the former presidential candidate's biggest donors in 2008, has long played a starring role in San Francisco as a hostess for presidents, top legislators and world leaders at fundraisers to generate money for progressive campaign causes.
But on Tuesday, instead of dining with the elite crowd of about 200 who paid at least $5,000 a head - and up to $7,500 for a photo with the president - at the two-hour luncheon, the Democratic activist, who could easily afford the fundraiser, said it was more important to stand outside with an estimated 1,000 demonstrators.

he may talk about income disparity but he hasn't said anything in support of the actual OWS movement from what I've seen but if you have then feel free to share
I've not seen Obama try to villify the 1% or 5% or whatever but he has discussed the fact that there are some inequities.
That doesn't mean they are evil or that they can't support him and in fact we know that many in the top 5% do support him and do support changes to the tax code

You truly live in a bubble. You and 240 clearly fight for the honor of taking an Obama load in the eyes.

why is it that virtually all of your posts are nothing more than personal insults
are you that insecure in real life?
-
LMFAO!!!!
The fantasy world these people live in is stunning.
Obama's done nothing to instigate class warfare. LOL!

when you're done laughing feel free to actually refute something I've said

correct
he has done nothing to instigate class warfare
that honor would fall upon people like the Koch brother and the leader of the Republican party who do things like try to hold up unemployment benefits at Christmas time in order to extort a tax cut for the uber rich

I've come to the conclusion that you have to talk to Straw Man like you would an eight-year-old. If he doesn't want to believe something, he doesn't. If he wants to make something up, he does. Guy's a weasel and a loser.
For proof, just look at him pussyfooting around Hugo's questions in the neocon thread.

you're the one who perceives any discussion of inequities as class warfare
in your defence, you really can't help it since that's what you've been told to believe by Rush, Fox News, etc..
-

He claimed it was what Dr. King would have wanted without hating on the people who worked there.
He's just trying to play both sides. (I think 240 might have gotten an advisory position in the WH).

straw - I agree that the wealth an income disparity is not good, healthy, or conducive to a a healthy economy.
But rather than blaming those few at the top, why don't we examine how it got this way and what role the govt has in creating the rules that led to this?

I attempt to treat you like a rational adult and all you ever do is piss and moan and call people names
if you have a problem then feel free to stop responding
don't worry the coversation won't suffer with your absence

ok, well I certainly haven't followed everything he has said but I'm not aware of him embracing their movement
I'm not suprised that he would try to play both sides
he is a politician afterall and the OWS movement doesn't exactly have a coherent message (at least not that I'm aware of)

when has he blaimed the people at the top for the system we have?
I'm not aware of this but if you are then feel free to show some examples
people at the top (and middle and bottom) will do whatever they can to get the most benefit for themselves with the system we have. Nothing wrong with that

illionaires, Billionaires, jet owners, top 1 percent, those who make quarter million dollars a year, etc blah blah blah.
we are in the mess we are in because we have moved away from a production based economy to a FIRE economy.
finance
Insurance
Real estate
we need to go back to production and industry, not govt sponsored ponzi scams.

Fat chance. The downgrade regime has yet to meet a regulation they didn't like.
