WASHINGTON — The attorney for one of the women who accused Herman Cain of sexual harassment said Friday that "a series of inappropriate behaviors and unwanted advances" spanning months led his client to take action. The lawyer also challenged the presidential contender's credibility in claiming not to recall details about the woman's accusations.
The news conference late Friday by lawyer Joel Bennett offered the most details in a scandal that has dominated the race for the Republican presidential nomination for the past week. Bennett's account contrasts with comments by Cain, who initially disputed the accusations but later said he recalled a single incident while he was head of the National Restaurant Association in which he compared a female subordinate's height to that of his wife.
"My client filed a written complaint in 1999 against him specifically. It had very specific incidents in it. If he chooses not to remember or acknowledge those, that's his issue," Bennett said.
The restaurant association released a statement Friday confirming it had agreed to the settlement with Bennett's client in September 1999 "without any admission of liability." The statement noted Cain had denied the accusations and was not a party to the settlement.
The statement also said the association waived a confidentiality requirement, giving Bennett's client permission to speak. Bennett said his client, a federal employee who has been married for 26 years, does not plan to do so.

If all this shit is true, it's really unfair to the women involved. I've watched these threads and news items come out that are talking shit about the accusers?. That's pretty fucked up. The accusers didn't leak this story. Most likely they didn't want anything more to do with this but I'm reading threads with posts that are all over the potential victim like it's their fucking fault?
We've seen several cases like this in politics where the alleged victim is actually behind the present news accusation, but that's not the case this time. Yet I read story after story and several posts here that seem to blame the alleged? Really? Not fucking cool imo...

Without details, this lawyer is FOS.

we all agree that we don't know the details.
With that said, all of this talk that is coming out laying down shit on the original accusers is fucking stupid. Most likely they didn't even want to be pulled into this bullshit. This shit happened over ten years ago. And if this shit is true, we should NOT be putting the onus on the victims. They were not the ones that leaked this PAST info. They've been pulled into this circus by other, unknown parties.... Yet i see all this crap giving them more shit than Cain... WTF...
And I say this as a person who very well might vote for Cain over Obama if he wins the general. I have by no means ruled out Cain... I'm saying this shit because it's right to say.

Similar kind of shit happened to Arnold when he was running for the governor bid. All of a sudden these women want retribution in the mens' critical times of progress in society. They're bunch of jerks.

The women are jerks or the men? Arnold admitted he did some unappropraite things and then he got busted with a love child around the same age as his own kid. The guy turned out to be a total creep and the most recent evidence solidifies the accusations of the others.

Truth. The workplace is full of land mines for men.

Hmmm. Did he tell her to get off her pretty little a$$ and get back to work in the second hour of her hour lunch? Multiple times?
As long as these women remain anonymous, with vague accusations through whore lawyers, one can only assume they have an agenda.
-
I heard one point of view, which isn't a bad one.
These details WILL come out. Someone will contact that lawyer and offer the woman 2 or 3 million bucks to "tell her side of the story". To discredit and embarass Cain, and show him as a cheating harasser, of course".
It'll happen eventually. It'll leak. People will throw money at it until someone cracks.
The POV is that cain might want to leak it HIMSELF - and do it now - so that it doesn't sink a presidential bid, if he wins the nomination.
Remember when FOX and everyone had taht John Edwards babymama story long before the primary voting started - BUT they held it secret. Ann Coulter even wen on hardball trying to push the story - but Repubs were very quiet on the issue. The wanted to hold the love baby secret until the general election. Hell of an october surprise for the 'family man of the year' recipient right before voting.
Cain's opponents in the dem side would love for the details to come out - "He grabbed my snatch and told me to call him daddy..." on a nice Barbara Walters interview about 3 weeks before election day in Oct 2012, right?
So cain would minimize the damage by releasing it - himself - early.

Thats why a man who knows better should keep things work related. If women in the office feel comfortable around you about diff things, YOU know. Seems like some men get too comfy, and don't realize that there are women who will use anything that can be taken out of context, on any given day. She could be having a bad day, and you saying, "nice top" or "uh, your, um 'undergarment' (bra) is showing" (right before an important meeting with clients, and she may say or think, "why were you looking?", and if that meeting went wrong---boom! A complaint.
-
still... giving her a YEARS salary...
and 3 diff people coming fwd?
and his lies about it initially?
I think we all like to defend any repub - but if it came down to betting our life's savings on "did cain say some innappropriate shit to these 3 people"... and if we were honest, we'd probably lean toward him saying something.
it's his personality. He's loud, brash, huge ego, and very full of himself. Smug doesn't begin to describe it. And people with big egos believe every woman wants them. Even if he didn't intend on poking anyone, surely he flirted, he's only human. So I don't hold this against him.
I do, however, disagree with his initial denial of everything, then slooow fact release as he got caught on things. He'd still be on CNN with that smug grin, laughing about 'that one oddball sotry about an accusation or something' if the facts hadn't come out. I like a little humility in candidates - Ron Paul 2012.

Yep. I think the women who make a fuss about this kind of stuff in the workplace are a minority, but they are there. You have to be very careful.

Cain didn't give them a year's salary. The NRA did and did so 3 months after Cain left; Cain wasn't even part of the deal and the statement declares that there's NO ADMISSION of liability on either side. Cain said it was a severance package, which meshes with what CNN and Politico called it.

hey, if you're a stats man....
every time there's more charges, there's a smaller chance he'll beat obama. it's more and more women that won't vote for him.
If you're a stats man, you want paul or newt or romney to challenge obama.
cain had years to prepare his response to this - he was confused and unprepared.
I just do'nt think he has the cool head needed to beat obama, or even be president.

How's Obama going to be Cain, if he gets the nomination? Run on his sterling jobs record?

Mostof us would pick a crappy employee who at least you know isn't going to burn down the store...
over some pyromaniac who promises to be good.
so far, cain looks perhaps dangerously underqualfied, and CERTAINLY a shitty decision maker and crisis manager.
the presidency is nothing but crisis... nonstop, on every level.
Cain't got 2 people from a decade ago talking shit, and he's angry, sputtering and lying for the likes of wolf blitzer.
how the fck is he going to look when the G20 says "we are dropping the dollar and pointing nukes at your capital should you choose to resist". ???
Sorry, but the other candidates seem like they'll be a lot cooler under pressure.

Being cool under pressure doesn't mean JACK. I refer you to your (supposedly) former object of affection, Obama.

Obama already burned the store down. How could he possibly do anything worse?

okay, that this point, I have to question your judgment entirely.
You don't believe a President should be cool under pressure? really?
Or, because obama isn't cool under pressure, it's a wise idea to select the "least cool under pressure" of the remaining top 5 GOPers?

Being "cool under pressure" is no indicator of competency. Obama has proven that, beyond any and all doubt.
First, you claimed that Cain should be shouting his innocence from the rooftops.
Once he does (on Van Strustren and Hannity shows), you complain about HOW he proclaimed his innocence.
Now, you claim Cain was supposed to bring up allegations that (thus far) have been shown to be false and de-rail his own campaign, before it even started.
YOUR judgment is the one you should be questioning. Three vague and questionable claims from anonymous sources that can talk but won't and now a 4th one (with financial woes out the wazoo, attached to the biggest left-winged legal hack on two legs, fresh off another political hack job against a GOP candidate from last year, complete with lying-her-culo-off illegal Mexican alien)....and Cain's the one you're scrutinizing?

what are her financial woes , post your link

You're late to the party. I started another thread, highlighting that.
