devilsmile :

I dont train for powerlifting , im competing in strongman so my training are far more intense than when i was bodybuilding.
I use one rep max progressions on squat , deadlift and over head presses mainly , but i do many Heavy high sets in the 12 range. And still do superset and cardio. As a strongman the goal is to be strong , quick and have endurance.

I still miss the day when i was bodybuilding , but my genetics sucked big time ...... but maybe after my strongman career ill do another body contest ;)

the huffs and puffs in the beginning are a total waist of energy, you could easily add 20 lbs with the right breathing technique

Man that was an awesome lift!!!

Push Presses used to be one of my favorite work outs back in the day.... (but I maxed out at about 185 lol)

I definitely think if you used more of your legs you can go heavier/get more reps!

In supplement, my old High School Gym used to have a Hammer Strength Ground Base Jammer - which forces you to to push with your legs too then extend with your shoulders and arms!

Great lift! Find someone in your town who does oly lifts and learn from them. You can crush 400 with a bit more out of your legs.

TrapsMcLats : i dont know if its a hernia , it doest hurt and doenst alway pop out.... just hope its not one , its not dangerous ans it doesnt need surgery.

Hernias dont always hurt and hernias dont always pop out. I had a double inguinal hernia and sometimes it popped out and sometimes it didnt. It really depended on if i was standing or laying down, etc.

If its a hernia, you can sort of kiss heavy lifting goodbye

Well, if it is a hernia, you are more susceptible to getting another one, especially if you lift heavy.

Better think about going back to bodybuilding  :D

Chaos, its variable. I knew a guy who had a hernia and four months after the surgery, lifted something the wrong way and it popped back out. He had to go back in to get it fixed.

Obviously, one can never know for sure; however, you are definitely more prone to getting another one once you already had one.

Sf there's lots of variables involved, the guy I know babied his for almost a year. Another guy I know has a little one by the belly button and his doc told him not to worry about it unless it gets bigger, lol.

How did you make the transition from bbing to strongman? What did you change exactly?

Is it as costly as bbing?

Thanks

Meso_z : 3 years ago ive got involved in an accident at my workplace. Ive been out of the gym for 6 month and got surgery to repair my right knee. In the process ive lost size and strenght. After my rehab ive started training heavier to get my size back , one guy at my gym invited me to an amateur strongman contest. This summer i did 5-6 amateur contest and got invited to compete pro the next year.

Yes Strongman is a costly sport. The food suplements and travel expense. But almost all contest pai for the expese , the hotel and we get decent prize money. And I have the chance to have some sponsor that help me get some monbey from my sport...

youre correct. I really didnt train for a whole year and so far so good :)

I know some guy who has had like 6 of them! He keep going back prematurely. I told him he needs to stay away longer. Wont listen.

And yeah, if they are small ones, they usually dont do anything, unless it gets out of hand.

yes, you can....but if you keep lifting heavy, there is a chance that the tear will get bigger and bigger, which can lead to a strangulated hernia and death! From what I heard, its best to get them fixed when they are small. The bigger your hernia gets, and the longer you wait, the more chance there is for future complications. I got mine taken care of ASAP and ive had no problems since.

All i can say is that even with my ugly face , now that im 325 lbs strongman I get way more attention from women that some of my bodybuilder friends with great shapes.

Anyway I like to lift heavy , and i like to compete ..... not for women just because I F&CKIN LIKE MOVING HEAVY WEIGHTS......

and as far as the i can stay ona  diet , NO ....I can stay on diet but I hate dieting and hate low carbs... so its true that the diet and eating protocol for strongman is far way easier to follow than a bodybuilder.... but as far as the training goes , strongman training is WAY more intense and hard than bodybuilder training.

And by the way I sill like bodybuilding and go see contest from time to time.... and when my wife compete i like to be backstage and see the result of all the hard work. But for me I really like strongman better , more challenging, no controversial judging (you lift or you dont) unlike the questionable judging that took place sometimes in bodybuilding. The money are better in strongman , and easier to get sponsors and more recognition from the people. Its more accessible for general people...... and almost everybody like to see strong feats.

his whole stomach looks like a giant hernia. guess the abdominal wall gets pushed out from all the pressure from heavy lifts. maybe combination with drugs has effect too.
