Syrian bodybuilder dies of suspected cardiac arrest in Mumbai

http://post.jagran.com/syrian-bodybuilder-dies-of-suspected-cardiac-arrest-in-mumbai-1320486694 (http://post.jagran.com/syrian-bodybuilder-dies-of-suspected-cardiac-arrest-in-mumbai-1320486694)

Mumbai: A 29-year-old Syrian bodybuilder, who was in the city to participate in the Mr Universe World Championship, died of a suspected cardiac arrest, officials said on Saturday.

Mahmoud Ibrahim Alhdidi, who died last night, was set to participate in the 75kg weight category and was on a weight-control regimen ahead of the event which is to be held here on Sunday.

His body seemed to have lost a lot of salt which affected him fatally.

"He fell unconscious yesterday due to dehydration and was rushed to a hospital in suburban Malad by the organisers where he was declared dead for suspected heart attack," Indian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation Secretary Sanjay More told reporters.

The tournament organisers have informed the Syrian Embassy officials about his death. His medical details are awaited.

Title: Bodybuilder dies after weighing in at IFBB World Champs
Post by: Super Natural on November 06, 2011, 01:55:58 AM
28-year-old Syrian body builder, Mahmoud Ibrahim Alhdidi, died on Friday night in his room at the Retreat hotel in Malad (west). He arrived in Mumbai four days ago as a participant for the Mr Universe World Championship, an international body building competition in the city. He died of heart failure, according to the first post mortem report, police said Saturday.

However, reports are still awaited on the chemical analysis of all the body supplements found in his room, said Ramrao Pawar, additional commissioner of police (north region).

On Friday, all participants went to the Retreat hotel for a mandatory weight check-up by office bearers of the International Bodybuilding Federation, said senior police inspector Abdul Rauf Sheikh of the Malwani police station.

“Alhdidi had not eaten anything for 24 hours before his weight check on Friday. At around 9pm, he started feeling dehydrated and collapsed soon after. The other participants rushed him to Behl Hospital in the area, where he was declared dead on arrival. His body was then shifted to Bhagwati hospital for post mortem,” said Sheikh.

Alhdidi was set to participate in the 75kg weight category. Sometimes, bodybuilders don’t eat anything before their event so that they can weigh less during the check-up. This helps them compete with participants who weigh less than them, thus increasing their chances of winning, said Sheikh.

Sources said 300 participants have come to the city from 90 countries for the body building competition. “After a series of elimination rounds, only a handful of participants will be sent for the finale on Sunday at the Andheri sports complex,” added a source.

Starving, no water intake, sauna, and abuse of diuretics was most likely the cause of his death. Was it worth it? I sometimes can blame the public's perception that bodybuilders have no brains and stupid.  :-[

Public perception that bodybuilders have no brains comes from the fact they have nothing else in life to show off but muscles primarely because they re uneducated, borderline autistic/ socially awkyard, or/and in love with themselves/cannot feel empathy for anyone else but themselves.
It might also sound completely absurd to them that bodybuilders would kill themselves using external chemical drugs to "impress" other human beings to balance a deep lack of self confidence originating in subconscious traumas that occured in their childhood.

Basically people who have an obsession with their muscle mass and constantly want to get attention/impress/dominate aggressively others are either uneducated, short/were bullied at school, or/and have a small dick and they need to compensate for it going into extremes ways. It is so obvious it makes everyone else laugh instead of making them "respect" the said "bodybuilder".

Some people tho, are impressed by them, and respect "bodybuilders" , they are generally themselves.. short, uneducated, not well hung individuals and the cycle repeats itself.

I'm also wondering how many fatherless kids get into the whole bodybuilding/mma/kung fu thing. Must be like 99.9% of them.

Fact is you dont need muscles, kung fu, to be happy and a contributing individual, you just need faithful christian father and mother who will love you and educate you in their faith in God. They will teach you balance and you wont fall for the extremes due to the lack of a decent father figure during your childhood/adolescence.

Not even close. If there is enough time there should be no reason to cut water. We do it a lot. Dolce likes crazy shit like that. MMA still needs to evolve when it comes to S&C and nutrition. When Dolce was doing Rampages diet he would routinely have him drop the last 15-18lbs 48hrs before the fight. IMO, if it wasn't for that he could have finished Rashad when he had the chance.

I like to rip on you cause you're overly sensitive, but you might be on to something.

The guys who are known to have the best endurance and tend to finish fights in the later rounds are guys who don't really cut weight.

Edgar and Diaz for example.

Remember that cutting water is different from cutting weight. And the time frame at which you cut is imperative.

Dolce has been doing lots impressively.

However, weight cuts 20 lbs within a few days is absurd. Of course a gradual and progressive cut over weeks is best.

The only times I ever had to do something like is with Jay Silva (a few times) when he fought CB Dollaway and Hector Lombard. When he got the call for Dollaway is was 10 days prior to the fight and his first fight in the UFC. He was 215 at the time but he got to his weight (185). He felt like shit but he wound up beating the shit out of Dollaway in stand up but lost by points on the ground in a decision same when he fought Leben. We had to do the same thing when he fought Hector Lombard but we had less time and Lombard agreed to a catch weight of 190. Needless to say it didn't make a difference with Lombards 6sec KO :-\

No matter what anyone says when you drop that kind of weight in that short of time, your body cannot recover that quickly even when you have 24-30hrs after weigh-ins.

REMEMBER THE TWO HIGH SCHOOLD WRESTLERS?.. the ones that wore sweatsuits and garbage bags to make weigh in.. both died in the sauna.. they tried to blame creatine for the dehydration and not the fact that their body temp was well passed the "dead zone"... as stated before... this happens in many sports where weight classes are the goal.. even the boston marathon, new york marathon, nascar, tour de france ect ect have their fatalities..  humans will push the limits..
