Title: Tribute To My Favorite MMA Fighter.
Post by: suckmymuscle on November 09, 2011, 02:53:29 AM
A tribute Wandy, my favorite MMA fighter of all times, before age and injuries turned him into a mediocre fighter. All highlights from PRIDE FC, from when he was in his absolute prime.

what do you think of Arlovski and the turn his career got?

Glass chin and his takedown defenses were always terrible for a guy who is essentially a boxer with no ground game. Hence, he can't keep up with modern MMA that relies so heavily on wrestling and countering wrestling.

No ground game? Wasn't he some sort of russian sambo champion? Also, most or all his defeats were due to KO, not getting choked out.

What do you think of Chris Leben? Here is one of Lebens fights, he knocks out some old washed up dude, not sure of his name, but he sure does get KTFO

You mean the guy who just got stomped by a Filipino dude at UFC 138? Beating up a 35 year-old Wandy who has gone through multiple surgeries to his knees and back means nothing. Wandy can no longer take a punch without getting KOd probably due to brain damage. The Wandy of 2003 would have killed Leben. And you posting this video is extremely disrespectful and you are tarnishing my tribute video.

Wanderlei was/is great.
I prefer Arlovski, but Wanderlei's fights and career are second to none.

No. He is too injured and he lost speed and also power with his punches. Also, he can't take a punch without getting KOd probably because he has brain damage. I give him almost zero chance of winning. He should retire and stop embarassing himself. He is one of the top 5 MMA fighters of all times. He doesen't need to prove anything.

I always wished that there could be UFC tournaments again. Champion must win 3 fights in a night.

I think Vanderlie Silva (circa 2000-2005) wouldve thrived in those. Fedor too.

I know how can you say his fights were fixed. You really think rampage is gonna let someone repeatedly crush his face with 10-15 hard knees directly to the head and then throw his limp body through the ropes. You think sakuraba would have his face completely mangled. Look at the first fight between cro cop and wand. How can you say those are fixed. Don't be so disrepectful of the greats who built the sport. The man has more heart in his left pinky the the majority of the guys in the game right now. Every fight he's in is exciting. He should of stayed at 205 and took some easier fights. At 185 he's way to skinny he looks like a cobra he can't absorb hits anymore. At 205 he was absolutely stacked. He was very powerful looking. Look a the fights with him and chuck and him and Franklin (he one that fight imo) he would of been better off.

His chin really isn't that good anymore but look who has knocked him out some of the hardest hitters in the sport. He got kod with cro cops baseball bat lhk, Hendos falcon punch, rampages left hook, and he took about 10 shots from leben before going down. Those guys are some of the hardest hitters in the sport.

CockSpinner, the 205 lbs division is the most competitive of all, and 2 of the top 3 in that division are former PRIDE fighters. The guy who has been rulling the middleweight division for 5 years is a former PRIDE fighter. Rampage embarassed Chuck Liddel, the most emblematic of all UFC fighters. Kazuchi Sakuraba destroyed Royce Gracie, the guy who won 2 of the first 3 UFCs. Dana White said he considers Sakuraba the greatest middleweight ever. Big Nog at 35 and having gone through multiple surgeries knocked out Brendan Shaub, who is 27 and injury-free. Fedor defeated 4 UFC heavyweight champions. As for Wandy, he didn't do well in the UFC but Liddel said he was one of the toughest guys he fought against and some fighters simply decline a lot when they reach 30 whilst others don't. PRIDE >>>>>>>> UFC.

Now, there were some fixed fights in PRIDE, but of all these fixed fights involved Japanese fighters. The Japanese were desperate for a Japanese champion, but the problem is that Japanese fighters with the exception of Sakuraba are not very good, so they tried to fix some fights for them to have a Japanese champion. But there is no evidence that there were any fixed fights involving Wandy except for the testimony of a guy who never competed there, who has never even been to Japan, who is being charged with tax evasion and who cheats with steroids. You proved you know nothing of MMA.

LOL...are you still pinning over the old Pride days...seriously?  It's so sad :(

Just to clarify, the top three guys in the 205 division are Jones, Rashad (TUF winner) and Machida...none are "Pride" fighters ::)

Also, just because Anderson had a handful of fights in Pride, does not make him a "Pride" fighter ::)  Of his 35 fights only 5 were in Pride and he never held a belt there.  Oh, 14 of his fights have been in the UFC...LOL.

And, I love how you overlook the dismal failure that most Pride guys have had in the UFC.  Crocop, Wandy, Gomi, Hendo, Fedor, etc.  None of them did as well when they fought outside of Pride where they were protected.

Bottom line, if Pride was so great, it would still be here today.  Instead, it got swallowed up by the better organization and the Pride fighters were exposed.  Live with it biatch....LMAO :)

You are such a fucking moron. Machida, the guy who got beat twice by Shogun is the #2 at 205 lbs? The last time I checked, it was Rampage(PRIDE fighter) who fought Jones at UFC 135. He is currently the #3 guy and not Rashad. Everyone knows that Shogun is the #2 at 205 lbs division. If he fights Machida again, he will beat him for a third time. The only UFC fighter at 205 lbs who beats Shogun is Jones.

As for PRIDE going under, I have already explained this to you, but you are too dumb to understand this. PRIDE had the best fighters, and they had tons of sponsors. Rampage kicked the ass of Chuck Liddel. Shogun destroyed Griffin much faster in the rematch than Griffin beat him the first time they fought. Anderson beat UFC poster boys Leben and Rich Franklin in embarassing fashion. Nog destroyed Mr.UFC Randy Couture at UFC 102 and won the heavyweight belt. PRIDE >>>>>>>>>>>> UFC. This is not debatable. The reason why PRIDE failed is because they got involved in shady deals that compromised their reputation and led them to lose sponsors. Without sponsors, they couldn't pay fighters salaries and they went under. DREAM succeeded PRIDE and guess what? Even though it's caliber of fighters is much lower, they still draw crowds of 50,000 people. PRIDE failed due to poor management and not because it had inferior fighters or less entertaining fights.  And when was Fedor in the UFC? As for the failure of Wandy and Crocop, what about the success of Anderson, Shogun, Rampage, etc? What about the failure of UFC poster boy Chucky in PRIDE, getting destroyed by Rampage? He is the most famous of all UFC fighters, the symbol of the UFC, and he got KTFO in front of everyone at the Saitama super arena in Tokyo. You know zero of MMA and embarass yourself constantly. I think you should shut the fuck up and go learn something aout the sport before you flap that stupid yapper of yours talking dumb shit.

Prove it. Let's see the evidence. And by the way, no organization would be closed because they fix fights. Ever heard of the WWE, dumass? You know, the place where the guy who used to be the UFC heavyweight champion came from? They admit that their fights are theater, and yet they haven't been closed. So much for fixing fights resulting in an organization losing their TV deal. No wonder your nickname is Mindless.

Are you really that retarded?  The WWE does not claim to be a real fighting organization.  Pride, on the other hand, did and when they got caught fixing fights, they lost their TV deal.  No one shut them down, they were on the verge of bankruptcy when the UFC scooped them up ::)

Let's look at some simple facts, why don't we?  Below are top Pride fighters that came over to the UFC, along with their fight records in the UFC win/loss.

Rua - 4/3
Crop - 4/6
Wanderlei - 2/4
Gomi - 1/4
Henderson - 3/2

Not surprisingly, most have more losses than wins.  Keep in mind, these are the guys that DOMINATED in Pride.  Yet, when they came to the UFC, they lost more fights than they won.  The only exception is Rua who has won four and lost three and Henderson who has won three and lost two.  Both are still shitty records though.

Interesting how these guys were unbeatable and suddenly hey have to fight real guys in fights that aren't fixed and suddenly their losses pile up.  LOL.

I didn't include Fedor since he never actually fought in the UFC, but again, once he got matched up in non-fixed fights outside of Pride, the once unbeatable "Emperor" got decimated...lol.

What else you got?

Are you really that retarded?  The WWE does not claim to be a real fighting organization.  Pride, on the other hand, did and when they got caught fixing fights, they lost their TV deal.  No one shut them down, they were on the verge of bankruptcy when the UFC scooped them up.

You are wrong moron, and here is why: no org goes under from having fixed fights; they go under if no one watches their fights. This is simple logic, but apparently it is too complicated for you.  At the PRIDE grand prix in 2006, less than a year before it closed, PRIDE had a viewing crowd of 60,000 people. DREAM, which is essentially a continuation of PRIDE with the same staff - even Lenny Hardt is there -, also attracts crowds of over 50,000 people. Riddle me that? PRIDE went under because their ties with the Yakuza were exposed and they were kicked from the open networks in Japan which led them to lose advertisers. They could no longer pay the huge salaries of the fighters only through ticket sales and PPV buys so they went under. You are a complete fucking moron and should shut the fuck up now. Consider yourself owned. :)

Nice that you excluded Anderson from your list even though he started in PRIDE. Nevertheless, Shogun Rua won the light-heavyweight belt and is still widely acknowledged as the #2 at the light-heavyweight division. Big Nog destroyed UFC poster-boy Randy at UFC 102 and won the heavyweight belt. What do you have to say about that? As for Wandy and Crocop, they are past their prime and the cage doesen't favor their fighting style. And Hendo, holy fuck, the guy is 40 years old and has been in over 40 professional fights! The fact that he can win any fight at all goes to show how good he is. You know nothing.

Do you really have to resort to just making shit up in order to prove a point?  LOL.  Anderson did not start in Pride.  He started with BFC.  In fact, before Pride, he also fought for Mexa & Shooto.  Of his 35 career fights, only 5 were in Pride.  Before coming to the US, Anderson had already left Pride and had been fighting for Cage Rage.  And, in case you had forgotten, Fourteen of Anderson's career fights have been in the UFC.  He's had more fights in the UFC than in any other organization.

LOL...you have the audacity to say I know nothing?  You claiming Anderson is a "Pride" guy shows just how desperate you are to make a silly point.  Fuck, it's so much fun pwning your sorry ass...LMAO!

Funny how your ignore most of my post and focused on a single point. Nevertheless. I never said Anderson started in PRIDE. I said he first came into the spotlight in PRIDE and everyone thinks of him as a PRIDE fighter. He also fought in Tumble On The Rock when he fought Yushin Okami for the first time. Who gives a shit? No fighters starts at organizations of the level of PRIDE and UFC anyways with very few exceptions(like TUF winners) so your point is redundant. The only one you have owned is yourself Mindless.

He started to get recognition in PRIDE, moron. Again, he fought in Tumble On The Rock as well. Who cares? I proved you wrong about PRUIDE fighters. They are still some of the very best in the sport:

  - Alistair Overeem is a top 4 heavyweight in the UFC.

  - Shogun is the true #2 at the light-heavyweight division in the UFC since he beat the current title contender twice.

  - Anderson continues to dominate the middleweight division.

  - Barnett is poised to win the Strikeforce heavyweight tournament.

PRIDE had some of the best fighters ever. It's funny that you pick at straws and hold on to anything in the discussion that makes you look like you ar winning. I prved you wrong on everything you wrtote.

LOL.  The only thing you have proven is what a neurotic and emotionally unstable quiff you are.  Pride guys were great in Pride.  Once they came to the US, their records speak for themselves.  Collectively the have lost most fights in the UFC than they have won.  There is no way for you to argue around that.  THEY LOST MORE THAN THEY WON...LOL.

It doesn't matter how many times you say it.  Anderson will always be remembered as a UFC fighter.  It's where he came into his own, won the belt and fought most of his fights...live with it.

LOL, using your stupid logic, Barnett is actually a UFC fighter, since he held the UFC heavyweight belt before ever going to Pride.

You make this too easy...lol.

And yet, they won an UFC heavyweight belt(Big Nog), an UFC middleweight belt(Anderson), and an UFC light-heavyweight belt(Shogun). And Overeem will add another UFC belt to PRIDE fighters. Why don't you speak on the times that UFC fighters were destroyed by PRIDE fighters, like when Rampage destroyed Liddel, the most emblematic of UFC fighters, in front of 50,000 people? It must have been really painful to you to watch TUF poster boy, Forrest Griffin, get KOd in one round by Shogun at UFC 134, a guy you call an overrated PRIDE can. Or when Big Nog coming off from surgery on his knees and back destroyed Mr.UFC Randy Couture at UFC 102. Or when Shogun destroyed Machida, the current ranked #2 at the 205 lbs division. LOL!

Funny that everyone thinks of him as a PRIDE fighter. In fact, when he came to the UFC in 2006 and destroyed Leben and Franklin, everyone used that as evidence of how much better PRIDE was than the UFC.
