Title: Low Testosterone
Post by: hypoman23 on November 17, 2011, 07:43:30 PM
Im a 22 year old thats had it for probably the last 10 years without knowing.  I just found out earlier this year. My morning level was 184ng/dl.  I started out with Clomid which was effective and then I got off it. My levels didnt hold so now Im back on as of 5 days ago or so.  Im suppose to be using a test cream but I wasnt impressed with it.
Any of you have it and what form of treatment did you use? Was it effective?

I was diagnosed with low testosterone about three years ago. Although this condition is more common among older fellows like me, guys can suffer from it at as fairly young age....such as you do. My labs showed my test levels in the high 200's which right on the edge of what is considered normal for my age, I think around 350 total testosterone. With the shots, my test levels range between 700 and 1,000 which is the norm for young men your age.

I tried Androgel with some success. However, it is fairly expensive and not a preferred treatment option with my medical insurance. I switched to testosterone cypionate injections. Initially, I got the shots at the doctor's office once every three weeks, 300 mg each time. Although I didn't notice any problems, some folks say that they feel highs and lows with shots spaced out so. I have no issue with self-injecting the testosterone, so I asked my doctor to set me up to self inject weekly.

Presently, I inject 150 mg every Thursday morning. I found injecting in my ass was preferable to my thigh because the shot sometimes made my thigh muscle sore. I have no such problem with my butt. Testosterone cypionate is suspended in oil. This makes for a fairly thick injection. I found using an 18 gauge needle to fill the syringe and then swapping out the needle for a 23 gauge to inject works well for me. I do have to push the test out of the syringe with some force.

Some fellas systems convert the testosterone cypionate to estrogen esters. This is counter productive and can cause one some problems such as, bitch tits and emotional swings (like women have). To counter this and keep estrogen at bay, you want to take some form of anti-estrogen such as Arimidex. If you cannot get your doctor on board for this, you can get it from AllDayChemist.com (http://AllDayChemist.com). I cut the tiny pills into quarters with a pill cutter and take one quarter pill every other day.

Another issue guys face is that since their testicles are not having to produce testosterone anymore, they shrink up. To avoid this you can inject HCG at 250 mg each of the two days prior to your testosterone injection. The HCG tells you testes to get busy and do their job....keeping them active normal sized.

If you are lucky you have a doctor who knows how to deal with all these details. The best way to know if you are on tract or not  is from your labs. These labs should include several things besides just your testosterone level, including where your estrogen levels are. Testosterone is measured in two different ways call free and total testosterone. Another thing is to find out why you have low testosterone. You can be primary or secondary. I am primary which means my testicles aren't doing their job....in my case because I had the mumps as a teenager which resulted in my having only one functioning testicle. Secondary can be because of other problems such as thyroid and pituitary gland issues.

AROMASIN also known as EXEMESTANE

If clomid worked to restart your natural test production, that means that you suffer from too high estrogen levels. You can start fixing that problem by taking an aromatase inhibitor, preferably aromasin.
