Anyone do high doses of vitamin c for a while and did it help your workouts?
-
I think in your case shock treatments and a straight jacket would help.

Define high doses.
Highest I've done is 3 grams a day.

Whats considered high?

Falcon. He's high as a kite and dumber than a box of rocks.
-
Shit my brains out the one time I tried it.
-
Throw a few grams of the powdered Vit C in a gallon jug and drink through out the day. Cheap vitamin water. Just don't carry the gallon around with you every where you go. You'll look like Arvilla's long lost cousin.
-

I have done around 8 grams of C every day for at least a month before, come to think of it. I don't remember if it did anything positive though.
only thing I noticed produce a notable positive difference is high starchy carbs and supplement with creatin. I guess the ensuing increase in water weight increases strength.
I think vitamin D is good, you can train more without getting sick if you take it every day.
-
IMO any more than 1000mg per day is just a waste of money.
Vitamin water is scam. Most of the vitamins (especially the B vits) are degraded during the pasterization process. Also, they degrade sitting in a low pH solution over the shelf life of the product. The minerals do survive but the forms they use have very low bio-availability.
-
A friend tried precontest 1000 mg, 5 times a day, as natural diuretic.

True, more important that vitamin C, people getting little exposure to sunlight should consider vitamin D3, not sure if it would help you train more, but you would certainly help in you not catching all the shit viruses flying through the air during winter.

I don't think vitamin C is a vitamin, it's more like a food almost, like a macro nutrient so it's not a scam to be confused with vitamins.
I'm gonna start taking it at 5 grams per day now. good thread

cows milk from the tittay. Every morning and night.

yeah, you've gotta work your way up until you reach your bowel tolerance level then obviously back off a bit. i can't imagine it making any significant difference with bodybuilding. i'd suggest this protocol if you're sick though.

2,000mg vitamin c every morning
1 a day vitamin/mineral every morning & night

It should decrease DOMS, but I never noticed a difference even at 5gr a day..

Unless you take it in I.V. form you are wasting ~ 1350 mg every day....you should never take more than ~ 650 mg at one time, the rest isn't absorbed

Vitamin C helps with recovery after a workout, take it with your evening meal. It also helps with collagen production. Just make sure you take a non-acidic form with bioflavonoids. If you take it daily, your immune function will improve. Also very cheap for what it does for you. I know I will get flack for saying this, but pick up a copy of Franco's "the bodybuilders nutrition book". Very good indepth info about vitamins and minerals.

It gets degraded in water after a short while..
