This sort of thing goes on in the USA as well.  Want proof?  Go visit Oahu Hawaii and walk a mile or two inland away from the Waikiki beach until you see a canal that runs behind many large sky-rise buildings.  There you will find tents of homeless everywhere.  In fact go anywhere outside any of the tourist areas and it is common.

But with being to the island this year just a month or so ago and seeing it myself, I can say it is really no better.  I'm sure other large cities in USA have the same problem.  Look around in places like NY, San Francisco, etc... I bet you find the same thing.  

I think it goes to prove no government really cares about its people.  It does not matter if it is China, USA, or other.  I think governments only care to stay in power.

1 - I feel for those people and wouldnt wish this upon anybody.

2 - This is probably the worse of the worse conditions in China.

3 - Poverty and horrible living conditions are ALL over the world from Africa to Brazil to America.

4 - This isn't just about how people live & struggle, it's bigger than that. It's about politics and their politicians who represent their communities. Then follow the branch all the way up to the Gov't and who holds office up there.

5 - Problem of poor living conditions? The middle class getting wiped out, the gap between the poor and the rich becomes severe. And lastly the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer.
