one of the latest biggest models, it can carry more weapons and electronics. I read an article about it on strategypage some weeks ago.
The only thing they got is some electronics they re not even advanced enough to reverse engeener anyway, but they will sell it to those who can, chinese/russians.
BTW it wasnt shot down, as it isnt damaged... obviously it had a malfunction and automatically landed by itself as these things are designed to do when they go off range of the operator or when they have a malfunction for example. Someone sure got his ass kicked in the us army.

The operator fucked up. They have these functions, but they have to be armed/programmed before the flight. These things often fly not being controlled at all when in observation mode , sensors do all the job -considering it has no weapons it was obviously used for observation- and they are following waypoints and landing positions in case of emergency have to be programmed before the flight. If something goes wrong the plane then go to that location and lands. Obviously it had a malfunction or it was a mistake of the operator and it landed right into iranians hands.

The BBC's James Reynolds says the video appears to support Iran's claims
Iranian TV has shown the first video footage of an advanced US drone aircraft that Tehran says it downed near the Afghan border.
Images show Iranian military officials inspecting the RQ-170 Sentinel stealth aircraft which appears to be undamaged.
US officials have acknowledged the loss of the unmanned plane, saying it had malfunctioned.
However, Iranian officials say its forces electronically hijacked the drone and steered it to the ground.
BBC security correspondent Frank Gardner says the intact condition of the Sentinel tends to support their claim.
Iran's Press TV said that the Iranian army's "electronic warfare unit" brought down the drone on 4 December as it was flying over the city of Kashmar, about 140 miles (225km) from the Afghan border.
Nato said at the weekend that an unarmed reconnaissance aircraft had been flying a mission over western Afghanistan late last week when its operators lost control of it.
Pentagon officials have said they are concerned about Iran possibly acquiring information about the technology.
Iranian media said on Thursday that the foreign ministry had summoned the Swiss envoy to express its "strongest protest over the invasion of a US spy drone deep into its airspace".
Washington has no diplomatic relations with Iran and US affairs in the country are dealt with via the Swiss embassy in Tehran.
A statement said the ministry had asked for an immediate explanation and had demanded compensation from Washington.
A report in The New York Times on Thursday said the "stealth" drone had been part of a US surveillance programme mapping Iran's suspected nuclear sites.
The US and its allies suspect Iran of secretly trying to build a nuclear weapon - something Tehran strongly denies.
A recent report by the UN's nuclear watchdog said Iran had carried out tests "relevant to the development of a nuclear device".

But to be honnest, russians already have the almost equivalent stuff, and chinese arent that far either, considering both are trading their knowledges they stole or developed, constantly. It's the electronics that will be dessicated by chinese and russians engeeners, thus allowing them to make quicker progresses to improve their own unmanned drones.
The us army still is by far the biggest and most advanced army in the world with the better trained soldiers.
It's funny how all these events happen at the same time economies are going down tho.

Nuclear weapons aren't even weapons, just deterrents. Countries with nuclear weapons will never fight each other because they can all practically destroy the planet several times over.

I was just thinking this as well, given today's geo-political climate one can't be to sure of anything.

The oil industry has been warned that cyber-attacks could "cost lives" and cause "huge damage".
Ludolf Luehmann, an IT manager for Shell, told the World Petroleum Conference in Doha that the company had suffered an increased number of attacks.
He said the hacks had been motivated by both commercial and criminal intent.
Security researcher David Emm said that such attacks were "not only possible, but they're now real".
Mr Luehmann said Shell and others in the industry were experiencing a "new dimension" of attack which could leave physical machinery at serious risk.
He made reference to Stuxnet, a targeted "worm" which was designed to attack industrial systems in the summer of 2010.
Mr Luehmann said Stuxnet showed energy giants that cyber-attacks could have a real-world consequence on business processes.
"If anybody gets into the area where you can control opening and closing of valves, or release valves, you can imagine what happens.
"It will cost lives and it will cost production, it will cost money, cause fires and cause loss of containment, environmental damage - huge, huge damage."
He added: "We see an increasing number of attacks on our IT systems and information and there are various motivations behind it - criminal and commercial."

When contacted by the BBC, Shell said it would not comment further on Mr Luehmann's statements.
BP, itself a target of high-profile cyber-attacks following the Gulf oil spill, said it did not speak publicly about security issues as a matter of company policy.
Dennis Painchaud, director of international government relations at Canadian energy company Nexen, said targeted attacks such as Stuxnet and the more recent threat Duqu form a "very significant risk to our business".
"Cybercrime is a huge issue. It's not restricted to one company or another - it's really broad and it is ongoing.
"It's something that we have to stay on top of every day. It is a risk that is only going to grow and is probably one of the pre-eminent risks that we face today and will continue to face for some time."
Moscow-based security experts Kaspersky, said the past 18 months had seen a dramatic change in how cyber-threats were perceived by large companies.
"The scene used to be dominated by speculative attacks - people being at the wrong place at at the wrong time, but it was nothing personal," Mr Emm told the BBC.
"But we certainly are in a different world than where we were 18 months ago. What we're starting to see is an increase in targeted attacks. We know critical systems, like those in oil production, are vulnerable to attack.
"A lot of countries now are pumping money into research - the last 18 months have shown these people are after not just the public's money, but they're after larger organisation's information.
"Organisations like Shell and others are hopefully taking steps to minimise that risk."
