Title: Scapula Manipulation?? Fact or Balonie
Post by: steamboatwillie on December 08, 2011, 02:08:16 PM
So Doggcrap has this big "secret" about how to add inches to your lat spread instantly....but refuses to tell us how.  Sounds fishy to me.  Is this for real or is it more filth?  I've been doing extreme stretching for about 2 years and my back hasn't changed much at all.

Isn't Doggcrap the guy that looks like overbaked ham and quenches his thirst via water from golden faucets?

Thanks.....now Im just pissed thinking of the hours I've spent hanging from the chinup bar and doing the doorknob stretch over the last couple years.  Maybe its time for less stretching and more injecting!

scapular mobility was the key to my wide lat spread. it was also one of the reasons my back was frail. i knew a powerlifter who had thick lats, but he couldn't do a lat spread. i realized that if he had my scapular mobility, he would have ripped his muscles to pieces pulling heavy deads. i always had spasms and microtears in the area whenever i tried going heavy on back or even squats.

Maybe that's my problem.  I'm real strong on back....and have a lot of upper back thickness, but can't spread them for shit.

Yes its real and its not a secret. We do as part of our pre-hab routine call "scap retractions" for sub-scap strength. Its closing and opening the scaps wide. He's trying to pawn something off as some sort of new found "manipulation" when its been around forever.

Joe, wasn't it Ed Jubinville that could literally dislocate his shoulder blades?  called himself a master of muscle control?

so in the quest for one, you gotta sacrifice the other

that is what i believe.  you look at a lot of the converted powerlifters to bodybuilders. very thick backs, but not great lat spreads. (exception Ronnie, but he's a alien hybrid, lol).

Haz,Jubinville could move any muscle in his body at will,as well as several different muscle groups at a time.

stretching does help the lats but if you are going to overstretch thinking that it well give you better results you might as well eat some buffalo wings that should help too.

Look i don't know the deal behind the doggcrap metod but i always believed in doing streching via hanging from a chin up bar with wide grip and pushin the elbows forward to achieve max. spreading of the lats. I think it helps in creating a better v shape. And try to hang for as long as possible at the end of your back routine.

i always had a way better lat spread than alot of guys who had way more back muscle.

i read Arnold's bio when i was 15 and always did the back stretches he described. also trained forearms and calves a ton because he said most guys ignored them and you would have an advantage from it.

I think you more than likely should have won your pro card in the past.

I just can`t figure out what the judges are looking for at times.  :(
