Dutch Architects Spark Outrage with Design Resembling Twin Towers

The design of a residential high-rise in South Korea is stirring an uproar across America. The Dutch architecture firm MVRDV calls the building's design 'The Cloud', however it bears a striking resemblance to the World Trade Center during its collapse on 9-11. In 'The Cloud' design, the two buildings are connected at the 27th floor, and oddly look like the debris that exploded during the fall of the towers. The well-known design firm recently issued an apology on its Facebook page saying, "MVRDV regrets deeply any connotations the cloud project evokes regarding 9-11. It was not our intention." But the blogosphere is not buying it. One blogger even said, "I'm not really sure how the eerie similarities weren't spotted before the design was approved." People also attacked the firm on Facebook by calling them 'clueless.' On Twitter, people are also skeptical of MVRDV's explanation, tweeting 'unless the designers are 9-year-olds, I don't know how they could not see this as resembling the 9-11 attacks.' A media storm has also erupted, and a spokesman for the firm says they are receiving threatening emails and calls from angry people calling them Al Qaeda lovers or worse. In spite of all of the controversy and anger toward the project, the buildings are still scheduled for completion in 2015.

Need a quick recipe to bake the perfect pound cake? As the Apple advertisement says, 'there's an app for that.' Want to make a funny fake I.D. to show your friends? Well, there's an application for that too--at least there used to be.  The Apple App Store contains more than 500,000 applications that users can download for their enjoyment that can be used for a variety of purposes. The 'Driver's License' app was created by DriversEd.com as a novelty program to let people make silly fake I.D.s, but Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey is not happy about it asserting that an app "shouldn't facilitate law-breaking." In fact, he wrote a letter to Apple CEO Tim Cook asking Cook to remove the program from the App Store.  Senator Casey said the program, "poses a threat to public safety and national security," and added that with a counterfeit license, "a terrorist could bypass identity verification...or even apply for a passport." It's looking as if the letter worked, because as of Sunday evening, the application is no longer available to download on iTunes. On social media, people are stumped about Apple's decision to offer the 'Driver's License' app as a download. One person tweeted, 'how did this get approved?' Apple is not open source, and every application has to go through an approval process

Would love to see more buildings like this, but maybe linking three or even four buildings with the cloud

The cloud-area looks very interesting.

I live in NYC and saw the towers crumble with my own eyes...personally I think it's a reach to say that ...anytime you put two towers together your automatically gonna think ...hey 9-11...people are too sensitive...also that building is in Korea not like its in manhattan

Agreed, wtf is wrong with people, grow up.  I personally have no idea how anyone can think that resembles the collapsing of the twin towers, people are fucked up, dudes cant even erect a building without some fuckwits carrying on like they had been raped.

Epic overestimation of our importance to think that people the world over r thinking of us every minute of the day. I live in NYC and don't see the big deal

The cloud region looks pretty cool. And while I don't know the architect's premises, I think it's safe to say that the design would ruffle some tail feathers. And rightfully so.

I'm not a politically correct pansy but c'mon... there's so much tension over 911 that it'd be easier to just not make an exploding tower design all together.

Exactly.  For all of the "tough" posturing Americans do on the world stage...they sure get their panties twisted like teen girls.

Cowboy the fuck up, America!

100% American perspective. They r in Korea, as in the other side of the world. They r not constantly thinking about 9/11

The tRUTH!

[ Invalid YouTube link ]

Information.

1. 9+11=20

2. 9/11 is the American emergency number.

3. Twin towers resemble 11 of the 9/11

4. Twin Towers and the pentagon are on the $20.00 bill

On the ‘Pentagon’ side, the folded bill has FIVE sides like the Pentagon !! On the WTC side…. IF you fold the two sides together [ like an AIRPLANE.. HEY !!] with one tower on one side of the AIRPLANE fold and the other tower on the other side of the AIRPLANE fold, you will notice the word AMERICAN is on one side and the word UNITED is on the other side…

The two airlines that crashed into the WTC.. AMERICAN & UNITED !!!!!!!Try folding a dollar bill like you do the $20. OK, done? Now look at the side that the WTC towers were on with the other bills. Ok now you see the eagle with its head and wings cut off and turned upside down with the bottom of the pyramid picture that says “Novus Ordo Seclorum” (New World Order).

Hmmmmmmm…and I work at a credit union so I have folded all the bills and it surely does seem like a sort of chronology of events. Starting with the dollar bill foretelling what the new world order will be and then all the other sequentially showing how it all begins.  Even worse than the $20, fold a new dollar coin in half, and it turns into a black helicopter.

I also think that it is offensive to post images that trigger traumatic memories.
Here are some other images that may remind you of 9/11: Be warned some images may offend and haven't been seen on tv before.
