Title: Another US drone knocked down

The CTer in me wonders - with Newt weirdly bringing up the EMP pulse weapon threat at the debate the other day - if something other than mechanical failure is dropping our birds?

Also Iran is running 'drills' near the straits of hormuz, spiking oil prices.  the first thing they'd do if attacked would be to mine and wreck those straits to disrupt 1/4 of world oil supply immediately.

Obama is trying to cause a crisis to avoid discussing his disaster presidency.

I already said months ago obama wants this so that it can create an energy crisis and spike oil prices again.   This is all intentional by obama and his disaster presidency response team.

Now, you're full-blown conspiracy theory :)

A war with iran would certainly spike support for obama.  Maybe he'll wait until Fall 2012.  No way america kicks out a president if we're 6 weeks into a brand new war.  No way.  Now, 6 months AFTER the war starts, yeah, he'll sink.  But that initial support for a wartime president is legendary.

of course, you dont buy into the 'power of the incumbency', right?  ;)

I said months ago - Obama wants chaos and crisis so that it could cause an energy crisis.   Its not a CT, its a fact.

I said months ago - Obama wants chaos and crisis so that it could cause an energy crisis.   Its not a CT, its a fact.

every war in the US in the last 200 years have all started on an 'event' that was allowed to happen in order to justify the goals of the administration.

Gulf of tonken, we learned from released documents in 2005, never happened - we were never fired upon.
Pearl Harbor?  LMAO...

Luscitania was led into that waters to get sunk.
1898 USS Maine, yep, internal explosion blamed to start a war.
911?  boatloads of intel ignored all too coincidentally.

I dont doubt it at all, 33.  But what happens if obama declares war on iran in october 2012?   Do voters go punch the anti-war Newt while shock & awe video is all over CNN?  I doiubt it............

Iran to 'reverse engineer' US drone

Iran claimed that it had begun exploiting a US drone equipped with the latest radar evading technology on Monday as officials warned that the downed machine could be shared with America's rivals.

Parviz Sorouri, an MP on parliament's foreign policy committee, said that Iranian experts were in the final stages of recovering the data from the surveillance drone, which was captured on Iranian territory last week.

Tehran has paraded the loss of the drone as a blow to the US and claimed it plans to reproduce the technology. It said its security forces had shot the drone down using previously secret air defence systems.

The drone, which is made from the latest 'stealth' technology, has been presented as a valuable windfall for its defence scientists.

Is this the same Iran that let not one, but two, worms reek havoc on its nuclear program? And yet now you think they're smart enough to hack our drones and reverse engineer them? I thought you were stupid before but I still might have been underestimating it.

I dont think iran can hack our drones.

I do think they'll let china and / or russia come in and do the work for them, however.

Iran is having a field day over the latest downed Drone, saying that President Barack Obama “begs to give him back his toy plane.”

“Obama is hoping that the Iranian government is in a Christmas mood because he has asked Tehran to send him his Christmas present. Iran mocks Obama who ‘begged' for [his] Drone back,” chided the semi-official Fars News Agency.

"We have asked for it back. We'll see how the Iranians respond," Obama said following a meeting at the White House with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

Can't we make these things self destruct or something

it would be cool if we could rig it to blow up when the enemy get's within 5 or 10 feet of it

Ok i know some of u libs are slow...but do you honestly think the friggen Iraninans would broadcast their ability to reverse engineer and or exploit our tech that quick if at all. These guys' are so full of shit. If they got lucky they'd keep all of this very quiet.

US, Israel shocked by undamaged captured drone
DEBKA ^ | 14 DEC 2011 | DEBKA File

Iran exhibited the top-secret US stealth drone RQ-170 Sentinel captured on Sunday, Dec. 4. Its almost perfect condition confirmed Tehran's claim that the UAV was downed by a cyber attack, meaning it was not shot down but brought in undamaged by an electronic warfare ambush.

This is a major debacle for the stealth technology the US uses in its warplanes and the drone technology developed by the US and Israel.

Is this a foreign policy success for Obama?

Is this a foreign policy success for Obama?

No, this would be a small failure.  He should not have said "we'll ask for it back..."

He should have referred it to the DoD for comment and focused on this the prez should be talking about.

weighing in on Kanye west, professor arrests, and other shit is below the office of the presidency.

Well, there's something amiss with this.  Most of the time, the drones are automatically destroyed or programmed with a self destruct sequence.  Its possible that this drone is nothing more than a modern day trojan horse.  We'll have to wait and see

it would be cool if we could rig it to blow up when the enemy get's within 5 or 10 feet of it

Probably software/firmware programs that wipe everything once they detect unauthorized access.

But when there is a problem, cut comm. lines etc the drones will automatically go into a tailspin divebomb and crash/destroy themselves.

Hahaha, these guys are hilarious. Keep in mind that these guys let a computer worm wreak havoc on their clised nuclear program for months before they even realized it was there. They're not hacking anything.

Pakistan Is Blaming SEAL Team 6 For Its Ability To Hack Into US Drones

Much as Iran claims to be able to do, Pakistan has come out and said it is capable of commandeering U.S. stealth drones and bringing them down quietly on Pakistani soil.

Ashraf Ansari of the Pakistan Observer reports the ability to command the drones may have come about through examining the wreckage of the stealth helicopter that came down within Osama bin Laden's Abbottabad compound in the May 2 raid.

Prior to finding the wreckage of the chopper destroyed by SEAL Team 6, Pakistan was unaware of the existence of stealth helicopters.

They claim it hasn't taken them long, however, to understand how to reproduce the stealth coatings and decode the programming within the helicopters communications systems.

The story cites Pakistan officials as saying they are very excited about the opportunity to pull down U.S. drones operating in Pakistan's skies claiming they now have a "trump card in terms of strategic imperatives."
