Overrated, born into a bad era for HW boxing. His legacy = Nice highlight reel of him knocking out bums.....

He was a small HW who didn't like fighting taller guys. We all saw him dismantled by Lennox Lewis.

Foreman, Ali, Fraizer.....those guys would have eaten him for breakfast.

Not to mention he's a rapist, scumbag, god knows what else

Tyson was a 1 in a decade kind of physical monster, I wouldn't be surprised if he was natural troughout his career.

Fighters like him are born that way, he was born to be a fighter. His only disadvantage was his small stature for a heavyweight boxer.

Tyson was unreal and a good person.
His weak self worth and business people's greed tore him a new one.
Ali's fat face would have been a great proving ground for Tyson's fists.

everyone who ever fought Ali said he hit like a 12 year old girl, look up some old Larry Holmes interviews, he said he respected Ali but his punches couldnt knock out an 8 pound house cat.

he was and is a great man but one the most OVERRATED fighters ever, Sonny Liston said he was a joke even after the "knockout" in 65, he was paid to go down, if Liston would have been allowed to fightnhe would have DESTROYED Ali, people who fought Liston said his left jab could bring down a building.

That Tyson that got KO by Lennox Lewis was a SHADOW of his former self!
Tyson in his prime would beat Lennox Lewis ,just like Julio Cesar Chavez in his prime would have beat De La Hoya!
You people forget that Tyson in his prime lasted only few years, infact after he left his former trainer Kevin Rooney in 1990 and signed with Don King Mike Tyson was never the same. In the 90' Tyson was a very different boxer from the Tyson of the 80',infact he lost the focus and the hunger for the sport and was not training the way he should have been training. Tyson was fighting just for money in the 90'!
Tyson prime was very SHORT. Tyson at 24 was already past his prime and when he met Lewis Tyson was DONE!

I would have loved to see Tyson cave in Ali's skull and lets see him talk shit then.  Could you imagine the prefight press conference?  Ali would talk so much shit..

Anyone who thinks that Tyson was just a hard puncher doesn't know shit about boxing ,he was  one of the most technical fighters in the history of HW boxing.

Agreed, anyone with half a brain can tell just by watching him practice hes insanely skilled. His hand, head, foot movement is insane, Ive never seen another boxer his size move like him.

While I agree that in the second fight with Ali, Sonny Liston took a dive, you must expalin me why Sonny Liston got TKO by Cassius Clay in the first fight!
Ali would have won against Sonny Liston in the rematch just like he did in the first match, not in the first round like he did in the rematch but problably in the middle to later rounds just like he did when his name was Cassius Clay!
That night whoever paid Liston told him just to go down in the first round!

The entire first fight:

Short clip on the first fight commentary from Ali great opponents

Short clip on the rematch commentary from from Ali opponents (especially listen what Chuvalo said at at 2:00)

Stupid. You can watch 100 boxers and not see another move/strike anything like Tyson does.
Not to mention in his early days he had a kind of extreme aggression coupled with his head/hand/foot movement that has never been duplicated. He was born to fight, plain and simple.

the sad thing about tyson is he had no one to fight that was truly world class.

if you look back to the 70's the calibre of the top heavyweights was far higher, which is why so many great fight took place, ali, foreman, frazier, norton, lyle, shavers, holmes, bugner and even the like of ellis and bonavena were better than the most of the top guys in the 80's and 90's.
for all his speed and aggression tyson was still unable to stop james smith and tony tucker two box fighters who were good but not in the league of the guys i mentioned before. he was exciting in a very poor era and what the sport needed at the time, people that rate him as the best heavyweight got caught up in the excitement of him knocking out poor fighters and believed the hype, he is in the top ten but not near the top imo.

You are 100% correct!
The saddest thing is that now the heavyweight class is a lot worst than the 80' and 90'. :-[
