Winter SUXXXX
52 on on Wednesday. 29 on Thursday with snow. Not that much, maybe 5" over a 24 hour period, but enough to make a mess of everything. I hate schlepping all that crap into the garage. >:( >:(

They were calling for anywhere from 4"-6" between Thursday night and this afternoon.
We have a half-inch, maybe.
It was the high winds and sub-20 degree temperatures that made the roads a mess today, when a few squalls moved through the area.

BTW - these work great for lining the floor mats in your car:

And, for helping prevent the tracking of winter sludge into the garage, you may consider something like this to place outside the door:

I've been meaning to pick one up, myself.

What are those things?
I've wanted to get one of those shoe scraper thingys too. The dog park gets pretty muddy at times.

Oil pads: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&q=oil+pads&rlz=1R2ADFA_enUS465&gs_upl=671l1997l0l2075l8l6l0l0l0l0l343l1388l2-4.1l5l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&biw=1600&bih=748&wrapid=tlif132651221474510&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=13812693812252241964&sa=X&ei=WvgQT8HxCOW90AGnidCrAw&ved=0CIABEPICMAU#
Shoe brush: http://www.harborfreight.com/floor-mount-boot-and-shoe-brush-66575.html
I would shop around for the oil pads. Of course, buying in bulk would probably give you the best unit price, but it may be a little impractical to buy several hundred, in addition to forking over that much dough at once. They are very effective at absorbing slop, though.
I've never priced them because my uncle gives me tons of the things.
And, although I've got pan-style floor mats in my truck, I still use the pads in the wintertime.
As for the brush, it's a fairly common/easy find. And, if you have any Harbour Freight stores in your area, they're worth checking out.
You can find some good deals, but I would stay away from their power tools and certain electronic devices.

My favorite was the news anchor just completely consumed by the whiteout at 1:00.
I think that's the closest anyone came to actually getting hurt in this montage.

I live in a frigging rain forest, otherwise known as Portland, OR. We had a minute or two of snow last week. Since then it has been rain an more rain. Might as well be in Alaska because it is almost a dark as night out at midday as a result of the heavy, water laden clouds. Fortunately, I live in the South West Hills of West Linn, 500 ft. above sea level. Folks who live on the valley floor, especially those who live on one of our many rivers which are presently above flood stage are watch these rivers rise with fearful anticipation of their houses being flooded. Up here in the hills we worry about mud slides.
Maybe it's time for me to consider buying snowbird property in Arizona or New Mexico so we can escape this place come winter. It is beautiful here in the summer though.
