We bodybuilders eat too much protein, and this creates several physiological problems. The biggest is acidosis, or excessive acidity of bodily tissues. After all, protein is composed of amino acids so it is not surprising that eating too much of it results in acidosis. The problem is that we evolved from animals that had vegetable matter as the stapple of their diet. Vegetable matter puts your body in an alkaline state, and we evolved to be at our best when our bodies are alkaline. Being acidic creates problems such as gout and arthrities. It also leads to ostheoporosis, as the body removes Calcium and Magnesium from bones to buffer all those acids and neutralize them. Putting aside the debate whether humans are natural omnivores or vegetarians, the bottom line is that we are much better off in terms of health when we get most of our food from the plantae rather than animalia kingdom.
I have discovered the most powerful alkalinizer there is: asparagus. It contains Sulphur-rich compounds that dramatically increase body alkalinity. You would need to eat pounds of lettuce or broccoli to get the alkalinizing effect of one pound of asparagus. But asparagus has one added benefit: it contains soluble fiber which lowers LDL cholesterol unlike the insoluble fiber in leafy vegetables and broccoli which does not.
Asparagus is expensive, but is really worth it. I feel much better on it: less constipation, less muscle aches, more well-being and a better complexion. If you buy it in bulk directly from the manufacturers, you can save hundreds of bucks. Shoot to buy 100 pounds or more at once. With this, you will save over 50%.

Asparagus is the best thing you can eat for your health.
One pound a day and you don't need to worry about eating broccoli, lettuce and all that crap that you would need to eat several pounds a day to get an effect. One pound a day will keep your body alkaline even if you are eating 300 grams of protein a day.
Trust me, after a week or two you will feel the difference: you will feel better, your energy will increase, your complexion gets better, you take much easier dumps, your sinus clears and you can breathe through your nose, etc...

Serious question:
Can't you describe/explain that issue you once describe where you had some kind of disease or were in some kind of accident and doctors didn't know how to treat you and you mentioned some kind of manipulation of your DNA? I saw something on TV that was alluding to something like that and it reminded me of what you wrote.

Are you buying it raw, frozen or what? How do you cook it? I don't mind asparagus at all, it's pretty good with a little pasture butter and some salt.
What about brussel sprouts? They any good?
-
aperagus is best absorbed ground in powder form, mixed with a tablespoon glutamine then taken as suppository rectally where it dissolves instantly in the warm folds and is immediately absorbed into the bloodstream
-
my assparagus always smells bad after drinking urine.

I love asparagus!

Please don't urinate on dead Taliban members in that case...

My favorite vegetable hands down. Tastes sweet if you learn to steam it right.
SMM you are forgetting the pronounced natural diuretic effect of asparagus. It is literally a perfect food IMHO. Just expensive.
-
it's just veggies, no miracle.
-
Its one of the very few vegetables i don't find absolutely disgusting. But its expensive and the asparagus stink is nasty.
-
Are you buying it raw, frozen or what?
Raw in conservation with salt and citric acid.
How do you cook it?
I eat it raw since inulin is usually destroye by heat.

There goes the LDL lowering effect of asparagus! Eat it with olive oil instead, dude. It tastes better than butter with vegetables and is good for blood lipid profile.
What about brussel sprouts? They any good?
Brussel Sprouts is just fancy lettuce. It does not contain soluble fiber like asparagus, nor does it contain the sulphur-rich compounds that alkalize your body dramatically.

Asparagus is a great food Sucky .. good thread
It's also easy to grow and comes back more every year for those that can have a garden .. here in the country you can get it from the roadsides growing wild for free
It's low in calories, less than 4 calories per spear.
Contains no fat or cholesterol.
Very low in sodium.
A good source of potassium.
A source of fiber.
An excellent source of folacin.
A significant source of thiamin.
A significant source of vitamin B6.
Also one of the richest sources of rutin, a compound which strengthens capillary walls.

Ive known asparagus is healthy and deliciously good but cant really afford to buy often. I use broccoli, very good and cheap too

Yeah, asparagus helps to dry you out if you eat lots of it and cut out the salt. It has inulin and Potassium which are both very good for drying out.

Very weak stuff, SMM. Few % in clinical trials...
-
how the ** do you expect 100lb / 40KG to stay fresh any length of time
they wilt as quick as a dick at a std clinic
oh well give peas a chance I suppose
The combination of citric acid, Sodium chloride and the vacuum of a cannister allows asparagus to be preserved for up to two years.

In that case I`m gonna` rush right out and buy a veritable ton of it.

I had some earlier funnily enough with olive oil and a little salt, beautiful stuff. Is it really that much better raw?

Never tried it raw,but as a rule raw veggies are far better than cooked.
Steamed or blanched is almost as good as raw though.
-
I buy the Asparagus snuff and use it that way works perfectly.

Whats that?
-
sorry but i can not resist this : wouldn't the citric acid and salt defeat the health benefits of the asparagus?
Citric acid = no
Salt = not really as far as alkalinization and cholesterol-lowering effect, but salt raises blood pressure which is bad for you. But salt can be removed with a simple wash.
