Title: Rosetta Stone (for languages)
Post by: Xerxes on January 15, 2012, 10:30:09 AM
Does anyone here have any experience with the software? I am not sure if I should take a class or just study it on my own but Rosetta Stone sounds good.

edit: For being able to write about mens glutes in various languages. BB related.

Nothing can take the place of a human teacher and a classroom...

I have tried, but there are much better methods.

Michele Thomas is pretty good

Also Pimsleur is rated higher.

I hear good things, but a combination of study methods is best.  Maybe seek out a friend who speaks your desired language.  Also are you going to pay that outrageous price or get a friend to loan you his "backup copy?"

I would agree with this.  In fact, the best way to learn is to combine classroom instruction with dating someone who speaks that language.  Talking to him/her everyday in casual settings about every day things (including men's glutes) is the best way to learn. 8)

Merci beaucoup, but do you have it for German?

Nevermind think I found it.

If the software is good I'll buy it, have to try the "backup copy" first  ;D.

I learned Spanish (also read and write a bit) through Rosetta Stone. This was Latin American Spanish, as opposed to European Spanish.  What really helped was watching Mexican TV (soaps ((some very hot babes)) and all) and the Mexican radio stations while driving. Living in the San Diego area, pretty easy to find.

Growing up, I learned all the dirty words in Spanish, plus a lot of kids were Mexican-American or from Mexico. Though the dialect they spoke was a lot of slang and pocho (half & half) stuff  We in SoCal get the Mexicans  of the working class and there is quite a difference from how they speak and proper Spanish in Mexico City, for example. So I had to unlearn the slang and bad habits and use a higher dialect with Rosetta Stone.

Not saying you should, or could, but try BTjunkie for any download of just about any language. Will also need to download a bit torrent, if you don't have the software already. Than burn a iso disk, pretty simple to do.

Or you can order a free disk by calling Rosetta Stone or go to their web site. Rosetta Stone allows you to learn to read also, that's up to you. Actually, fairly easy, with the pictures and you controlling the speed of the lessons.

I don't know if the product is worth a shit or not, but I'd fuck the living hell out of the pig from the commercial.  And pay for it to boot.

I used it to learn Vietnamese.

One thing to keep in mind is that RS doesn't always cater to dialects.  Like the Viet one taught me the northern dialect of the language which is a bit different than the southern dialect that my girl and her family speak.
