I think it's been documented elsewhere that he did lift that much, but that there were spotters on each side of the bar touching/holding the bar. In the spotters defense the Cowboys said they wouldn't let Allen attempt the lift without aid because they have too much $$$ invested in him to hurt himself off the field.

There used to be a clip of him benching I think 600 lbs on youtube, doesn't seem to be there anymore. It ran on SportsCenter years ago. I recall that it looked like he had a lot of help from spotters. This was towards the end of his career though.

Yeah, the video seems to be gone everywhere. It was a 3 position spotter "Jimmy, The Bull Pellechia" type bench. Strong guy though, definitely believe he could gut out a #600 .
