Jay-Z's 40/40 club shut down for health violations, faces 'C' grade

Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club was shut down for a slew of health-code violations just a day after its celebrity-drenched $10 million relaunch — and now it faces a dreaded “C” grade, The Post has learned.
An inspector found perishable food at dangerously warm temperatures inside the walk-in refrigerator and discovered “hot” food left out on the counter on Thursday, Health Department sources said.
A worker was also seen mixing salsa with his bare hands.
The refrigerator was at a rancid 60 degrees instead of 41 — jeopardizing the safety of 50 pounds of raw chicken wings, five pounds of raw shrimp and 100 turkey burgers, the sources said.
Five pounds of cooked mashed potatoes, meanwhile, were left out at a temperature of 89 degrees, while 10 pounds of cooked rice and 50 turkey burgers were kept at 67 degrees.
All the hot foods should be at least 140 degrees, the sources said.
The club’s restaurant was immediately closed, and new patrons were barred from entering. Those already inside were allowed to remain.
“If you have a walk-in place with food like this, you put a hell of a lot of people at risk,” said the source. “A night of dinner and dancing should not include the risk of contracting food-borne illness.”
The nightspot corrected the problem and was cleared for business last night.
A night earlier, the hip-hop mogul held an A-list party to reopen the hotspot, which was closed for 10 months for a $10 million makeover. Famous guests included Russell Simmons, Spike Lee, Lance Bass and Warren Buffett.
Ron Berkowitz, a spokesman for the club, insisted there “was no interruption in service or sales.”
However, problems could be looming for 40/40. The inspector gave the club 69 violation points, far in excess of the 28 needed for a worst-possible “C” grade, and they’ll be adjudicated at a hearing next month.
During its last inspection, in March, before the facelift, the club racked up 39 violation points for problems including improperly handled food and unsanitary conditions.

something you guys may not know about these inspections:
if the owners of a restaurant dont have money, then the inspecting team that shows up will be small and hardly trained and will go very easy on the restaurant
if the place makes money though, a large team will come and try as hard to make them fail as possible
the reason is that if u get a b you can contest this and turn it into an a, but it costs money, thousands of dollars. it's like you pay a fine and they change ur grade for you

I used to manage a restaurant and one of the most stressful things about the job was when the health department paid us a surprise visit and we had to make sure all the temperatures were perfect

Buffett has well over 50 Billion dollars. Looking at it from a mathematical perspective, Jay Z has 1/100 of the wealth Buffett has and no where near the academic or financial savvy that the man has, not to mention that Buffett is 82 and one of the strongest hands in the financial world.
When it comes to Buffett, losing 450 millions dollars is the equivalent to that of farting in the wind...insubstantial.

even the nicest blacks are allergic to tipping. my old roommate who was the nicest black man from texas, totally typical southern guy with good manners, when it came to tip in our favorite diner, he was like a dear in the headlight. i'd take out 3 dollars and he'd go awkwardly into his wallet and say, i'll a dollar... i guess. meanwhile this is a diner that has maybe the best service you will ever see, it's a famous for it. really funny

One of my buddies worked at a place called crab shanty and a group like 15 came in for some chuirch outing or some crap. They ran up a bill of over 800 w lobsters, drinks, shrimps, etc,
They left $15.00. He chased those idiots into the parking lot and asked them if there was something wrong with th service and they were like 'no, the service was great" When he dressed them down over their cheap tip they offered more but he was too disgusted at that point.
After that he refused to ever wait on blacks again.

He is certainly a wealthy person and I'm sure everyone Buffet associates with doesn't have the Net Worth of Jay-Z.
