Title: Anybody Ever Faint or Pass Out While Lifting?
Post by: The_Hammer on January 29, 2012, 03:20:19 PM
Have you ever fainted or passed out after a big intense lift?

I almost did after repping 405 with the deadlift for 6  :-X

Yeah, around rep 87 when the helmet to my gravity suit started to fog up, thankfully my Matsutake mushrooms in honey cranberry glaze and Pinot Gris 1934 powered me through to rep 112.

Don't remember ever passing out but then would I?
Have however burst an eardrum doing bb curls, lost all innate balance control and simply toppled over (whilst watching it like a bad movie in the mirror), thrown up a little in my mouth after leg and back workouts (only once or twice) and almost sharted myself whilst doing a most muscular in front of one of my first girlfriends way back when I first started training (what was I thinking?)

I never had this problem until one day when i was squatting.  I think it was 4 plates but i was coming off a little layoff.  I did my set, stopped, laid on the floor like usual, but the dizziness never left me.  I had blacked out once before so i knew the feeling.  I went up to the reception desk and told the girl i felt faint and she took care of me.

Nowadays an intense set of BB curls makes me fucking dizzy.

How old are you Rhomboids?
As a kid up to the age of about 17 I used to faint at the drop of a hat. I grew fast and am pretty tall and big framed. If I stood for 10-15 minutes in one place, like at school assemblies etc 90% of the time I would simply pass out. Grew out of it basically but I think maybe growing fast etc you can have these issues. Remember on school thing where I was standing at the back and on the uppermost bleachers - started to see black spots and thought at the time this is going to be messy. Fell forward, tumbled down to the bottom - took out about 15 kids and a teacher.

Interesting.  I was 120lbs as a sophomore in highschool.  When i came out i was 160.  At 19 i got up to 195 and it's been up and down from there.  Now fluctuating from 180 on a bad week to 190 if i don't miss a meal for a month.  I'm 35 now and do feel like if i had very high blood pressure.  I've never been diagnosed as such though.

I've been doing heavy duty since 1995.  Swear by it but makes me wonder if i'd benefited from periods of non balls to the walls training.

Good idea to have a checkup. I self monitor mine these days, I'm 40, as mine is high but you could just as easily be suffering from hypotension (maybe too low). Either way just remember the heart is a muscle too and heavy training etc can also have positive and negative implications for your heart.

Always after weighted walking barbell lunges. I usually always stick with 95lbs and just go for distance. Good god! I try to go until I collapse. The quad pump is mind bending. Cardiovascular wise you feel like you just went up Mount Kilimanjaro. I do this last during a leg workout, cuz after them you are done! I'm still working on getting to the point of passing out and waking up in my own Nitro-tech/Cell-tech vomit pile with the barbell having landed on my neck. If that ain't living the dream, I don't wanna know what is.

Once blacked out squatting 465 on my second rep, luckily I had an awesome spotter who saved my life.

Once fainted in the locker room after a crazy leg work out, my buddy found me on the floor and slapped my face to wake me up

Once got dizzy spills doing arm curls and toppled over LOL

almost passed out, was doing a full body circuit with 1-legged squats  :-X

Worked out too close to a meal for a workout like that. I puked seconds before I thought I was a goner and felt instantly better after that  ;D
