Title: Could the world function without the internet in 2012?

I know it's off topic but I've just been having a discussion, about what would happen if the internet suddenly stopped working and couldn't be fixed. I know its ridiculous but.. what do you think?

Life was a million times better before the internet.  Actually required me to go to a library and search for info. I'd prolly jerk off less and be happier.

???  Facebook serves no purpose.  Life was fine 3-4 years ago before it.  Who needs to know what someone does all day long?

internet gave me alot, specially with the exchange of music and information, its an awesome time to live in these days. i remember the only information i could find before was on the encarta encylopedia cd rom

Yeah, for someone like myself who has an interest in alot of subjects the internet is a godsend, saves listening to the usual dross people usually spout all about themselves  ;D
