I have to choose:
- A job with more money but also more stress, and conflicts with management and stuff
or
- A job with considerably less money (25-30% less) but with less stress, more respect plus more free time..
(still above average, I'm a MD)
What would you do ?
-
I see you are trying to pull a "sementaste"..... ;D

Stress will kill you prematurely.....not worth thd extra cash!!!

more money is always better
but depends on your financial situation and personal preference

No help at all, but thanks for the response. I think I will go for the worst payed one, and build it up from there. Of course it'll give me more time to work out...why didn't you morons mention that immediately?

Some of the best times in my life were when I didn't have shit for money. I've taken positions were I was making more then I knew what to do with because I didnt have the time or energy to spend it. Imagine having a job were your so stressed out you just want to go home and grab a bottle of whisky. Forget days off you just want to sleep. No energy or motivation to go to the gym. Fuck that noise. I'd rather make a few 'sacrifices' and enjoy the hell out of my life.

Thank you. This is contributing response.

If this is a dilemma for you, I think you've already chosen.

B. Less work=better live. There is no honor in over working. Thats all BS that capitalism wants to impose on free men. Enslave them in endless working hours selling them the idea of 'dignity' 'pride'. All lies.

We need you here on getbig. Take the less paying job.

Money means nothing if you are miserable all day. Which option would make you a happier person? ;)

I hope you picked less stress. I made the mistake of going the other way 4 years ago. Big money, high profile job, high stress, and I hate this fucking job!!!! Good luck Dutch.

Money is nothing.
I want to work for people! I want to make peoples lives better. Offer them opportunities to enjoy themselves.
well-being of the society is what is pushing me - not the modest financial compensation I get in return.
-
I can't believe you guys are nursing this wimp through his pathetic decision making process. For an Alpha, less money is out of the question. A real man seizes life's treasures, and runs over anyone who gets in the way. If this fairy even needs to ask whether or not he should make more money then he doesn't deserve it.

u a personal trainer? ;D

Depends on your goals, your financial requirements and personality..
Obviously more money helps, but it always comes at a price. Me personally I moan about the stress in my job but I couldn't do something boring or too easy as it would not stimulate me.
Balance is key... if you find it your a lucky man... however if you can deal with the stress I suggest you take the oppertunity of higher pay and use the extra money which you get from this job wisely (like saving all of it for an early retirement).. hopefully you will live long enough and this investment will pay off for you and you will live out well in your goldern years

I got an offer for a promotion in DC. turned it down for a position that's half as much money. But I get fri-sunday off with ridiculous amounts of vacation and sick time. For some, their jobs are their lives. For me I value my free time so I can do the things I love to do. Some people need the money because they like and do expensive things. Some peoples idea of a great vacation is traveling abroad. My ideal vacation is strapping a tent to the back of my bike and riding cross country(costs me nothing)
And sadly a lot of people want to make a lot of money just so they can drive a fancy car and post pictures of their house on facebook, even though they're miserable as hell.
You really need to decide whats important to you.

LOL ;D
Nah, just polishing my political jargon capabilities...
-
hope that I would be able to discuss this with close friends and not depend on a public forum largly populated by kidults taking repeditive but humerless pot shorts at what ever passes in front of their screens
Of course I do, but there's some people on getbig I respect and trust....and some I don't ;D

I agree. I'm not a man of many vices. I like traveling and thats pretty much it. I don't need fancy cars, clothes, big houses, jewelry, watches...i just don't need it and don't care for it. On top of that im cheap as fuck so i don't need much money.
Working the bare minimum to cover expenses and enjoy you free time is priceless. Life is about how you make the most out of the time you have and be happy.
Working 12, 14 hours have never made anyone happy.

Ever notice the fuckheads who say, "money can't buy happiness" are always brokeass, lazy, bitches?
Take the job with more money, find the source of stress and eliminate it.
It's not fucking rocket science FFS.... ;D

That's true too, this is what makes it a tough choice....

If it's still above average, why not take the less stressful job?

Your first option sounds like g4p if you do not want any conflict with your pimp (management) make sure that you agree to his cut before you start working

Lemme boil this down for you:
More money = more pussy, higher quality pussy, sports cars, answer to no one
Less money = less pussy, low quality pussy, ride a bicycle, get shit on daily.
So my question is....are you a man, or Swede?

I did exactly what your talking about. I transferred to another department within my company, but had to take about a $4500.00 per year pay cut because it didn't require overtime, working weekends/holidays, and it came with less responsibility. I kept my pay grade and all the benefits were the same. Let me tell you, it was the best decision I ever made. When you have little to know job stress it literally changes you. I workout again, I leave work energized instead of burnt out. Stress will slowly eat at you like a cancer. Fuck the money. Go with happiness. You'll live longer and healthier. I literally burned up my sick leave where I was at just from mental stress.

I thought you were a Dr.?

6 months ago I was making more money than I ever thought was possible for me.
It almost gave me a high, to the point where I would call my work an addiction.
I kept expanding, investing into it, and was working 20 hour days 7 days a week for
two months straight. I had no life other than work, and my stress was sky high.
Eventually I crashed hard, mental and physical issues. It took me a couple months to
recover from. I have since scaled way back, and stress has been lower than ever.
I am actually considering working for someone else so I can have some structure in my
life, if I am working for myself, I just don't know when to stop.
So to answer your question..... take the pay cut and live your life. It's too damn short,
and what good is money if you are too busy to spend it. Also, I am not sure why everyone
things money is so great. I realize it makes a lot of things easier, but at a certain point,
it just becomes a bad habit, IMO. I am trying to live simply now and appreciate the more
simple things in life.
-
As long as you can live comfortably enough with the 2nd job's money. Choose the 2nd job..no need to "kill yourself" for 20-30% more.
-
Thank you, my fellow brothers-in-iron. Tomorrow morning (feb 10th here) at 9 AM I have an appointment with my management about stuff. That will make the decision. If it gets mean I'll post about it.... ;D

Should we send some getbiggers to ease the negotiations, the "getbig way"?

well. there are factors that should affect the choice...
if current pay is high and you live good and how you like to live, or if you dont. makes or breaks.
if you have a girlfriend which you are happy with, of if you want an edge in hunting for one. makes or breaks
do you react very negatively to stress, don't seek a stressful position
really hard to advice without know more.
personally. i would probably aim for more power as i am single. but if i had a girl/wife with intentions for "the long haul", and already earned enough to get by, it would be pretty pointless to take on more responsibility wouldnt it?
work is pretty much shit, i don't like to work.
