This is probably a noob question but I hear people talking about it and frankly I'm like wtf? Is it when you lower carbs for a certain amount of time and then raise them back up? Do you only lower them when you cut and raise them up when you're bulking? Is fat kept the same if you are lowering carbs? Would appreciate if someone could fill me in. 8)

You pretty much hit it on the head, low carbs for a certain amount of time followed by Carb loading...Fat intake is dependent on the person. If you are carb depleting, I would increase fat intake somewhat to keep your satiety up.....
What exactly are you trying to do?

Ask Wes from the Training board.
He wrote a very detailed article on carb loading for Bodybuilding.com a while back. He can probably send you the link.

Thanks guys. Is carb cycling only done during contest prep or do people do it whenever they feel like it?
littleguns: I'm not trying to do anything, just wanted to know what it was so when I needed to do it I would know how 8)

An article that I had published in Iron Man magazine in 2005:

Hope this helps as it needs to be tweaked to the individual but use it as a template or guideline.
