Title: Top GOP Senator Says ‘If Romney Loses Michigan, We Need a New Candidate’
Post by: blacken700 on February 18, 2012, 06:31:58 AM
A prominent Republican senator just told me that if Romney can’t win in Michigan, the Republican Party needs to go back to the drawing board and convince somebody new to get into the race.

“If Romney cannot win Michigan, we need a new candidate,” said the senator, who has not endorsed anyone and requested anonymity.

The senator believes Romney will ultimately win in Michigan but says he will publicly call for the party to find a new candidate if he does not.

“We’d get killed,” the senator said if Romney manages to win the nomination after he failed to win the state in which he grew up.

“He’d be too damaged,” he said.  “If he can’t even win in Michigan, where his family is from, where he grew up.”

What about Rick Santorum?

“He’d lose 35 states,” the senator said, predicting the same fate for Newt Gingrich.

It would have to be somebody else, the senator said.  Who?

“Jeb Bush,” the former Florida governor.

We don't need anything new - we need Ron paul to step up to the plate and take charge already and start attacking Obama's failed presidency daily.

ron paul only gets to do something big and bold ONCE, cause afterwards they'll label him crazy.

maybe his plan is to wait until a brokered convention, will speak to a crowd desperate for a true conservative, and make his case.  He'll ahve the 3rd most delegates, huge money, huge swing voter support... he'd be frontrunner right now if levin and hannity weren't in charge of your souls lol...

a fiery speech today gives RP nothing.  they'll call him unhinged on monday.  but a fiery speech on tuesday of convention week - might give him the nomination on wednesday.  then they'll all line up to kiss his ass.

I agree with this. Paul has to be very careful what he says and how he runs - cause the GOP is just waiting for him to say ANYTHING that they can jump on to try and destroy Paul to the public.
Im sure if he went on a rant that it would take Fox 2 seconds to go on a crusade about how he's emotionally unstable and too crazy to be president.

Ron Paul would get absolutely murdered in a general election....and the chances of him even becoming the Republican candidate are slim to none.  He will NOT be chosen.....should Romney lose Michigan, than ass-froth discharge man or a guy with a last name synonymous with the devil himself will become the Republican nominee to run against Obama.  Is he an extremely intelligent and moral man who is and will continue to be influential upon his passing?  Absolutely.  Is he a viable candidate to become the President of the US?  Absolutely not.

First, he's too old.  Second, he calls for the suspension of all foreign aid to Israel.  Any politician that shows even a hint of being overly critical of Israel eventually gets buried.

Hate to say it, but lots of truth.
I think we all know by now that its not the best man for the job that gets the presidency, its the man that best manipulated the masses into believing that he's going to give them whatever they want.

Someone like Paul just can't win in todays political environment. Too many people expect too many things from the government, and there is no way anyone like Paul can win when too many people stands to lose so much if he did win.
Not to mention, neither party wants a moral man in office.

Ron Paul would get absolutely murdered in a general election....

The one candidate that is genuinely anti-war, pro-civil liberties, anti-bailouts; the one candidate that the majority of people think is pro-middle class... He would wipe the floor with Obama if he ever got the chance.

The problem isn't with Paul, its with the general publication PERCEPTION of Paul. Most people I've talked to are convinced he is a racist anti American nutcase   :-\

Don't underestimate the power of persuasion the MSM has over people.
Most people believe whatever they see on TV, and both sides go out of their way to make Paul look like a nut.

Plus, peopke believe what they want. If they believe its a.race between santorum and Romney, they'd going to knee jerk pick one and that's it, they won't change their minds.

Those are my observations from dealing with people.

i'll say it again.

repubs in office, in corporations, in the media... would rather lose and keep obama in office.... than win with ron paul.

cause theyr'e all still getting rich $$$ with obama in office.  Maybe richer with romney, perhaps.  But paul won't play along.

Who would FOX support if it was Obama vs RP?

Mitt Romney.
If Paul pulled out a win, theyd still be talking about how Mitt would have been the better candidate and how if it had been Mittens he would have won.

Too late already.  Santorum would be a bad choice, but no way someone gets in this late and wins.
