I'm not, personal training at a gym/on the side at peoples' homes doesn't cut it. Maybe if you're living at home with your parents and have hardly any bills, then it'd be a great job, enough to have a cool car and date multiple whores.
But making it on your own and all the bills that come with that, moneys' tight. Just my story.
How's your career/job treating you? Financially, mental well-being? If it's good, do you recommend it to fellow getbiggers?
-
no i don't like it. but if a job was fun they would find a way of charging you to do it instead of paying you :-\
-
normal 'working class' usualy dont look forward to going to work everyday, and if they do its down to friendships with co-workers
only people who dont have real jobs skip to work

so making a living off a job you enjoy is a myth, the older I get the more this seems true

so what kind of money do p.t.'s make?

so what kind of money do p.t.'s make?
not much if you work strictly for a gym such as 24 and la fitness, about 15 bucks an hour, however you get crap hours and they treat employees like crap too. you go private, you name you prices and all that good stuff.
-
People are embeciles when it comes to Uverse...Always asking me to do things that compromise the performance...when I tell them that I can't do something,...they give me grief.
-
I start a new career on Monday. I can't wait. Ever since I go out of the Marine Corps, I've been searching for a professional purpose, corny as it sounds.
-
If you have a job you love you got the world by the balls. If you don't it sure is nice to make enough money so that when you are off you have some cash to spend. One thing for sure the old saying is true. No one ever said they wished they spent more time at work on their death bed.
My daughter works in the medical field and her first two weeks of work out of college was hard during the night shift. She was so discouraged until she got her pay check. She ran to me and said look at how much they are paying me. I guess it was a shock from her previous $10 dollar an hour college and high school job.

I was always told if you do something you love for work, you will hate it.
I like what i do, but i don't like the stress and bullshit i get from clients.
I'm happy from a financial standpoint, but some days i want to pursue other things and leave the Engineering world behind.

You said "job" then mention personal training? Like saying you build model airplanes for a living.. it's a hobby not a job.
;)

On a serious note, I've been doing this particular job for almost 30 yrs. I can honestly say 20 of it I loved but the higher up you go, the less fun it is and the more like work it becomes. But I enjoy it.
-
I get to make the CG shit in the movies that keeps you meatheads escaped from reality for a few hours. Why the hell wouldn't I be happy?
-
i think of jobs as something i need to do to be able to do what i want to do.
it is much more important to be a good friend and person than a good employee
-
Yes. Very happy.
-
Fucking hate it. hate the people I work with, hate the clients, hate it all, but I get paid a LOT OF MONEY. So like a bitched taking two dildos in the ass for cash I come to work, deal with the bullshit and get paid handsomely.
-
...now, i'm working only part time as a manager at a recreational center in the midwest hating it, the pay sucks and there is no chance for me to move up and i hate everyone i work with! and since it's only part time i'm actually living with my brother which while i love him, it sucks that i'm a grown man and living this way...
:'(
-
so making a living off a job you enjoy is a myth, the older I get the more this seems true
It's not.
It's about making good choices at the right time.
I love my job. I get paid and I see what I work on all of the time... Actual satisfaction.
I also get paid pretty all right.
Finding your job happiness can only come from you.
-
My day job is piss easy and pays the bills, what I do with the rest of my time is what I would say counts towards a "career". To conclude, I'm pretty happy but always hungry.

Liked it until I lost it a few weeks ago. Drove and did quality control for Netflix. Decent money, and spent most of the day driving the truck and blasting my music.

oh. doctors stopped being revered here after the 60's when they where exposed as overpaid ignorant drugs pushers and when every family in the country has been affected directly by a medical screwup.

I work full time, while attending University full time. Currently make 60k a year and don't like my job.
With my degree i aspire to make 100k+ pa, but i still won't like my job.
Sooo.. i'm guessing i'll be about 40% happier then i am now, is that how it works?

by the time you make 100k that won't even be that much and you'll need 300k to live comfortably.

lol, living in Australia, so unfortunately that's probably already true

the job in itself is never a problem, it's the people you have to spend time with who are ... A job is great with people who do their best to collaborate, cooperate, contribute, when they re confortable, satisfied with their personal, private life... the problem is when they are frustrated losers who import their frustrations at work and annoy other people as a result. A pain in the ass when your own boss is a frustrated loser who releases his anger sadistically on his employees.
On a side note, if you have a farm , an access to a forest for wood, a chimney and guns to hunt, you dont need a "job", you can feed yourself and dont need "money" and as a result you dont need to be part of the "system".

I enjoy my work an I'm good at it. Being that I'm 100% commission I get what I directly deserve, and it's up to me to cultivate new markets and build my business.
That said, I often have free hours and I feel a bit underworked at times, so I'm working on getting certified as a nutritionist. I've been working e competitors doing diets for years but decided to take it to the next level (affiliate with training group, take more clients). So basically I've chosen my hobby for a part time job.

I love what I do.
Work from home, work maybe 4 hrs a week.
And usually do my work on my lap top on my couch during commercial breaks of Pawn Stars.

Who said doctors are needed to deal with such issues, the medical establishment works very hard to ensure only a small percentage of the people able to help people are allowed to do so.
It's a fucking sad state we live in and no one is able to challenge there monopoly on healthcare.
p.s. I'm not talking about some hippy form of medicine, I know enough about the healthcare system to say that doc's oppose anybody but them to make decisions.

I started my new career a month and a half ago, we are 8 new guys that started at the same time.
Everybody there hate their job, they hate that we ask questions and they don't want to show us how to do the job properly.
hopefully, there are a few young guys there who showed us a few tricks, but the old guys don't give a fuck and try to give us shit for no reason.
our formators told us to keep our mouth shut, and endure it until we are accepted.
7 of the 8 are doing this, myself I set the tone the first week by telling an old fucker than I am all for taking criticism, but that I am not a fucking dog and that if he doesn't change his fucking tone when he talks to me I'll play his game too.
needless to say, the 7 others keep getting shit on by everybody and nobody say shit to me and they answer my questions without arguying 8)

we dont choose to be alive, but we choose the way we live. For those who have a soul, who are conscious. Im not talking about animals who only think about themselves and have no problem surviving at the expense of others. In groups, people have to insure their own survival and have their own ennemies and people they like. Ultimately th same people stick together and are against others. You have traitors who go from one side to the other depending of what benefits them the most... Good old fight between good and evil, and everyone in this atheist world has his own view of what s good an evil... This is why life is so stressful, because not everyone think the same and because everyone imports his problems at work and thinks others are responsible for them, especially when somethign goes wrong at work. Fat people are jealous of leaner people, people always try to pretend, impress, because their private life sucks, you have liars who cant get track of their lies after some weeks...
There are old assholes who survived being assholes and destroying others. You also have good hearted people who survived being good hearted, and sometimes if the guys at the top of the pyramid at your workplace are good people, most of the hierarchy is made of people like them. But basically it's a giant free for all.
The key is not to become an asshole because people are. You have to stay faithful. The key is to understand you are not other people's problem. Most of the time i figure someone's weaknesses and break him or her by letting them know from the get go i know why theyre frustrated but that it's not my fault, and i do it publicly so everyone see them getting put in their place. At some point in life you re sick of having to endure other people stupidity and try to find a place where you belong, where you re with people like you and where you can contribute with the maximum of your best capabilities.
Old people have survived so many bullshit, fought every single day others, so they think that's how it has to be for any newcommer, that's its the rule of life, of the jungle, of nature. But old good people help young good people, and old bad people help young bad people.
-
More often than not, helps that I work with great people. I work for a company which focuses mainly on new technology with an emphasis online gaming, casino, slots etc. I get to work on a lot of awesome licenced brands e.g. Lord of the Rings, Tomb Raider, Playboy, Hellboy,The Osborne’s, Batman and other big brands. A lot of pressure sometimes it can be pretty limiting/fustrating creatively because you have to stick to the brand identity very closely.. and get constant approvals from Warner bro's etc. A lot of tedious back and forth.. Started off as a graphic designer in small company, one of my first design jobs was a pamphlet for a sex shop...spent a week deep etching dildos in Photoshop :D

I have multiple *careers* blended together.
I can't say I really love any of them.
I also remember what it is like to sit at home, even if you stay busy and have *hobbies* it sucks.
This is why you will see old folks outside tinkering with the garden or some shit. They don't want to sit in the house and wait to die. If they could go back to a *career* they would be more than happy to do so. Something to think about when your'e hatin' on your career....

I was a doctor for 3 years until someone asked me to do something other than say "I'm gonna refer you to a specialist" or write a generic prescription for some generic pain killer. Then they found out I printed my degree at home and had no fucking clue. Now I'm a dentist and just walk into a random room once every 2 hours and look at someones mouth and say "looks good". I figure I'll continue with dentistry until once again they know I'm a fraud.

patient: it didn't work i don't feel any better
dr: I'm referring you to a digestologist.
job welldone doc!
any retard can be a family doctor.
keeping it real i remember this time when i went to the dr with shortness of breath and coughs.
ER doctor told me it was bronchopneumonia. gave me antibiotics, corticoids, inhalers...
after a week nothing changed.
i went to me family doctor for a second opinion his diagnostic was asthma and his treatment stop smoking (i haven'r smoked aday i my life) and use inhalers. I told him i haven't been asthmatic ever.
Pissed and went to a private doctor (pneumologist) who run lots of expensive test (MRIs, spirometries and performance tests) and told me it was neither asthma or bronchopneumocia that my lungs where totally normal and clean but he had no explanation.
short story it was an effect of anxiety. three doctors had no clue. ofcourse i avoid doctos like a plague now.
job welldone docs!

I'm still a student and I will have my master degree in 1 year but I know I'm condemned to hate my job.
Maybe I will work in an advertising agency or something like that and will earn between 50 000 and 70 000$/ year, but I know I will hate it like millions of students who are only studying in hopping of becoming rich without any passion.
No matter what I will do in the future, I hate to wake up at 6am, taking the fucking train with smelly people, being stuck in front of my computer during 8 or 9 hours a day, receiving orders, having objectives who will make me more stressed and so more watery and fucking my private life for a shitty boss who will think that becoming friendly with me will help me to lick his balls with more enthusiasm.
Money is the only reason I will be resigned to support this life, but I still prefer to do boring tasks during the rest of my life and being well paid rather than not.
That's why work is remunerated. If not, trains would be empty until 1pm.
-
being a student was aewsome. always get educated during the recession!

What do you study? Something with designing graphics or something ?
-
What do you study? Something with designing graphics or something ?
No. I study the world of media and communication. I will have to do internal/external analysis of the company who wants to advertise, finding the good medias to communicate, when is it better to communicate, and with a predefined budget.
I have been doing that since last October with fake or real companies and that's horrible.
I'm a creative person, I like to draw or create comic strips but I know that doesn't make you rich so I prefer to do that besides of my studies.
-
being a student was aewsome. always get educated during the recession!
I remember back in the day my American cousin just refused to believe that here in Holland the government actually gave us 6 yrs of scholarship no matter what. If you finished all the exams in 4 yrs, which wasn't that hard, you could just party and lift weights for the other 2 yrs..... ;D
Today it's not like that anymore, of course.
-
My wife once told me that a job/career is something you can tolerate doing each day and that's it. Those that "loooooooove" what they do for a living are in the extreme minority.

used to love my job, have been self employed for 5 years doing groundworks but latley things have been shit, had a run of low paying useless jobs, pisses you off when you are laying a patio for some stuck up piece of shit who wangled down the price so your making pennies with his large new house and 2012 model bmw while you drive home in your battered 12 year old van to your shitty little terraced house on a stinking street

I agree. You just need to tolerate it. I am sick and tired of my family telling me to try finding jobs that I "love" or "enjoy". That shit just doesn't exist unless you have 10+ years experience at something.

i wish i still lived in moms basement. i had a weight bench, guitar corner, bed, stereo, tv... dinner arrived at 6 pm... no rent.. that was the life.
NO squat rack?

I can relate to that, dude. Plus the laundry was taken care of... ;D

I wish I was good enough to play in the NBA (i used to ball when i was skinny) or wish my HS had a football team and I was big then. Either that or I wish I could get paid to play video games, which is my closet hobby no one is supposed to know about
-
being a student was aewsome. always get educated during the recession!
The best education I got was here on GB! ;D

My cousin does that, he is fresh outta college trying to find a job
He says you get paid like 9.75 per hr and you begin to hate video games after a while
I think only the magazine writers and reviewers get any kind of decent pay doing this

yea that doesn't surprise me. 9.75 per hour is not good for someone with a degree. being a magazine writer would be a dream job. I really wish I got into journalism because I actually am a very good and articulate writer when I need to be.

The last person here to make that claim was Tom. ::)
If you are “very good and articulate” walk the walk; don’t talk the talk. :-X
-
Tom is probably CEO of his own company now that he founded after he walked cross country with his belongings on his back and setup shop in a new state and slowly moved from homeless shelter into low income housing, into small house, now lives in a mansion, all while you guys are hating on him, he was a great motivator on here.
-
No. I study the world of media and communication. I will have to do internal/external analysis of the company who wants to advertise, finding the good medias to communicate, when is it better to communicate, and with a predefined budget.
I have been doing that since last October with fake or real companies and that's horrible.
I'm a creative person, I like to draw or create comic strips but I know that doesn't make you rich so I prefer to do that besides of my studies.
just like 99999 billions of other whiteys your age... Man this recession is going to be tough for a lot of people...
-
I am now. I paint cars and do body work now....I'm still a bit new at the job, but I do make around 600 bucks a week....I can crank it out to around $1200 if I really wanna bust my ass and do some work at home in my garage. I made more as a probation officer(OT was sweet), but being in bad neighborhoods at odd hours is not a great time. I was never happy doing my job until as of late, even though the money is less.

I have heard doctors got some really nice sallary? Even nurse have a great sallary around 140 000$/year...
Is that true?
I think computer people are pretty high payd as well? Programmers etc...
The food i us is cheep, gas to, cars to...house to, seem like u can have a pretty good life if u have a better job over there?
Tax is only 15%??

Sort of. Doctors have to go through many years of medical school, well over a decades' worth. It isn't cheap. Even nursing school in community colleges are extremely competitive and difficult to get into. The medical field is hard work and you need to have a passion for it.......can't be squeamish around bodily fluids!
Computer jobs are routinely being outsourced to foreign nations. Yes, some of them pay well, but not as much as one thinks.
Food is cheap if you are smart. I shop at farmers markets and go to a few local slaughterhouses for meat. Let the dumbass lemmings go to Publix and Whole Foods which are both expensive. Housing is expensive or cheap, completely dependent on location.
Taxes? Taxes are pretty brutal(for my wife and I anyway).....local+state+federal.
-
I was a doctor for 3 years until someone asked me to do something other than say "I'm gonna refer you to a specialist" or write a generic prescription for some generic pain killer. Then they found out I printed my degree at home and had no fucking clue. Now I'm a dentist and just walk into a random room once every 2 hours and look at someones mouth and say "looks good". I figure I'll continue with dentistry until once again they know I'm a fraud.
Seriously lol'd for about five minutes.
I got family that works with doctors often, you start to see things differently when you realize the worlds most respected profession is filled with a bunch of baffoons.
gp's are like mechanics, the bulk of their "work" is either blind guesswork or referrals to real doctors.
It's sad to see them have such a log down on medicine.

usa has some of the lowest taxes of western nations, or all pretty much, pretty bad here the tax situation, the rich don't pay much taxes compared to the poor here and I don't want to here the poor don't pay income tax, they pay all the other taxes except income tax, so they do pay a very large sum of tax, so shut your mouth conservatives.

not sure what I want to do about a career. I'm 19 years old and still have no gotten my GED yet- dropped out of HS senior year never went back. :-\ a dream and a curse depending on the way you look at it. For the most part I live like an IFBB pro, I live in a beautiful home, my parents support me, my day consists of training, going to the supermarket, getbig.... - I'm still a misrable fuck though...no real friends/social life whatsoever, except for getbig. Gotta say even when I worked the shittiest jobs, I still enjoyed being around people all day and having some purpose to get up and get going early. at least I was getting paid for something. I live dollar to dollar, but comfortably. No luxaries but I can do what I want when I want. Yeah if I go out and get some 9 to 5 manual labor job I would pretty much be able to buy anything I want for a guy my age but fuck it I'm lazy..

acquiring material things will not make you happy, neither will all the friend's in the world or a significant other, you need to find happiness with yourself, then you can pursue those, until you can be happy with yourself, all those other things are a crutch that eventually will break and you will be left lonely and depressed.

Damn...
Why didn't you just tell me from the start you such a pathetic little rodent? I would have never even responded to your insults.
-
I have a love hate relationship with my work. I love having little letters next to my name. I love the money. I love the prestige and opportunities.
I hate answering to pompous spoiled little brats. I hate working 12 hour days and weekends (sometimes). Sometimes I hate the repetitive nature of the work.
Overall I am happy though.

If any you guys want a degree, pm me, i got a damn good printer.

Your still a troll but I will respond-
If you take your head out of your ass and read some of my posts you will realize that I'm just brutually honest. you see I don't lie about who I am or what I have accomplished like most of you posers because it's the internet and I don't care what anyone thinks of me- I am the first to admit- that I am a complete loser at the moment as far as my accomplishments in life in education. You won't see me making threads about how "great" my life is for I have no life, all my friends are off in med school or away at college l and I'm on getbig in pursuit of a never ending drug addiction whopdeedo - hell I don't have a car. But it's not that bad... I'm good height, dick is good size, get asked if I'm Mario Lopez 5 times a day, physique is decent...nothing to write home about but decent, and most importantly have a shitload of human grade primo amps in my closet as we speak straight from a bayer wholesaler-life could be alot worse :D..

So being brutally honest about being a total and utter failure is something you're proud of?
I mentioned this in the other thread (and I am being completely sincere), but why don't you spend the time you waste here towards actually improving your life? The fact you said dropping out of high school was both a "dream and a curse" is honestly mind blowing to any rational, responsible person. And I really mean that Flinstone. We had our little back and forth (well, you actually attacked me for absolutely no reason), but why not try and improve your quality of life? You seem to bask in and almost have a sense of pride in your lack of accomplishments.

I shall acknowledge the fact see that you are trying to be sincere here- we had our back and forths but no need to act like girls with grudges with eachother- and you know I just looked back at the thread and I did seethat attack you out of nowhere- for that I apologize.
As for the quality of my life I am working on it- I never really liked school it always felt like it was an insult to my intellgence. I realize at some point I'm going to have to get a GED and get a career for myself to be successful though. The only thing I really have motivation is in bodybuilding though. At the end of the day you can have all the money, friends, women, the best job and so forth. But if you are not satisfied with your physique you will not be happy.

don't you feel at your age they deserve to keep their money for themself ?
not bashing you, just don't understand your line of thinking

140,000 for a nurse ?

140,000 for a nurse ?
Maybe with all of the overtime. I don't know.
That's probably 80 hour work weeks.
-
140,000 for a nurse ?
hooker nurses.
-
I know a nurse. She makes about 55k..
Oh and Flinstones, we're about the same age, i have more then a few friends close to your situation and i understand it. You need to search for motivation bro, because if you're too comfortable it's not just going to happen :-\

You sure she's not an LPN? I know about a dozen nurses who moved to the US and make over $100,000 because it's easy as fuck to get a job there and pull over 6 figures. Yes this includes some overtime, but not too much.
There are nurses in Canada making over $100,000 too. When my mom just got into nursing they had crazy overtime incentives all the time. I was just moving out at the time (sucks because we were dirt poor my entire life lol) but the last month I was there the phone was ringing off the hook. They offered nothing less than triple time as well as banked hours for every few hours she worked OT. Made over $80,000 her first year and paid off a fuck ton of student debt. I think this was around 7 or 8 years ago.
My wife's just finishing her first year of the RN program. Could have been finished by now but got hired as a Registered Care Aid making almost $30/hour so it was tough to go back to school with that kind of money dangling overhead. I'm seriously thinking of going into the nursing program in the next year or two. You don't wipe asses and give needles 24/7. That's what RCAs, LPNs and bitch nurses do. I know some nurses that work in long term care facilities and all they do for 12 hours a day is tick off a few boxes on a clipboard, give out medication and watch over the LPNs and RCAs. One nurse dude at my wife's work has fucked about 10 chicks there and takes 2 hour naps each day. When people laugh that he's a nurse he laughs that he's fucked their girlfriend and makes twice as much as them lol 8)

Clown suit and a big red nose...
I'm 20 yrs into my current job at the same place. When I first started I would done it for free. 10 yrs later I would have done it for about half what I was paid
From about 10 yrs to now there have been many times I found myself bitching and moaning about one thing or another, switched shifts, mandatory overtime, ridiculous rules etc etc. I usually catch myself and think back to when I was first trying to get this job. The process was a pain, several long drives from my home in another state to here to take various tests as part of the hiring process over a 6 month period. 2000 people applying for 80 positions.. Eventually it came down to the last step. A panel of 6 people who grilled me for what seemed like days but was only 21/2 hours with every possible scenario you could think of. At one point, after asking me things like "We change shifts every 28 days, is that a problem with you?" "We often have to work well past our shifts due to last minute issues and sometimes you don't get off for 15 hrs is that a problem?" I finally said "Look, if you told me part of this job was to dress up in a clown suit with a big red nose and work traffic control in the busiest intersection in the City every now and then, I'd just want to know if the outfit was supplied or do I have to buy it myself"
That's how much it meant at the time and once in awhile I have to remind myself that I am fortunate to have such a job. You just have to find your own clown suit and big red nose I guess.
-
Life is what you make of it....
Ask a person in their 60's if every day on earth is precious.
Get out and start becoming the person you want to be.
-
why bother the world ends this year.
LMAO ;D

My job is simple to satisfy women. I am a professional male escort. So yes, I am satisfied--for now. In the long run I'd like to do something more meaningful.

I didn't have to go through all the hoops you did but when I made a career change 12 years ago I was the same way. I wanted to be in Information Systems. Now I find myself wishing I never went into IT. The constant changes, the never ending education on new technology, putting up with managers that know jack shit about IT but they make the decisions. It sucks...but...I make OK money. That is the only thing keeping me in it. I know nothing else.

I'm overall content with it. I don't think there's a job I would call my dream job because I dont really like to work at all; I'd rather be retired and not deal with any work. I work at a large engineering firm and it's better than the other firms I hear about because ours is less stressful and I don't work nearly as hard as most other engineers elsewhere.
I make a good salary and am at work around 32 hours a week. I might actually work 20 hours per week and spend the rest of the time surfing the net. My job is fairly secure as I'm one of the few engineers in my niche of transportation preliminary design within the company in the southeast united states.

im two months away from being a registered nurse. the RN's over here at kaiser where im at make stupid money. an ICU nurse i was working with showed me his check, $5800 AFTER taxes. thats $12k/month in his pocket!
-
Nursing a good gig if you want to make some good money. But you couldn't pay me enough to wipe some old persons asshole.
lol people never know what nursing is just think wiping butts! hell if they would pay $12k/mo to wipe shit id do it in a heartbeat.
-
Nursing a good gig if you want to make some good money. But you couldn't pay me enough to wipe some old persons asshole.
most people on here do that for free :-\
-
10 years doing the same thing. Feels like I need a change soon. Previous gig lasted also ten years and was an artistic thing. I enjoyed every bit of it but felt I wasn't cut for it. This thing, I'm cut for it but strangely it's not enough. Made a certain number of investments thanks to my job and now I have to carry that burden for a little while. Responsability is a bitch.
-
Nah, don't like it. I work in IT consultancy and the travel kills me, the constant entertaining and pretending that I enjoy spending time with IT Managers/Directors along with the constant need to keep on top of the market and taking into account what competitors do.
Things I enjoy are pitching, my colleagues and the fact that I'm constantly rotated onto new assignments to gain broader experience. I don't have to work on one project too long. That's pretty decent.
The pay is great, benefits top notch and a career path carved out by various mentors.
I will leave within the next 2 years.
-
Yes, i'm very happy with my job/career. I get payed well, hardly do any work, and more time off than I know what to do with. Plus, it's recession proof. What's not to like. :D

In a 100 years, when we have long been worm food, the population are going to read ancient threads like this and laugh at all the schmuks who chased high paying jobs as some kind of route to happiness, while robots do all the work and they fuck the women of their dreams all day, linked up to the holodeck in their neuro-computer.
We simply arnt on this earth long enough to achieve anything other than being happy in the moment, not striving for things that when we get there dont make us feel any better for more than a fleeting moment.

An interesting thought indeed, but if you're not too old (40-50+) there is a good chance you'll be around to receive aging therapies that'll extend your life considerably. The current young generation actually might be the first ones to potentially live forever. Truly fascinating stuff.

The world would devolve into complete chaos if that were to happen. Imagine population problems if everyone lived forever. Life would be meaningless.

Outed.

That is one of the concerns yes. But if you look back at our history and observe that the average western lifespan didn't go over the 40-mark until the late 1800's you'll realize that it's all relative. Can you imagine how worried they would be back in the day if someone told them that in the future people will live to 80 years on average?
Besides our current lifestyles ARE already overpopulating the planet. We're gonna have to change our ways even without age therapies.
-

Not true. People would still die from traumatic accidents. The government would have to put sanctions on population growth. Every decade they could have a lottery to see who can have a baby. If you don't win, then tuff shit. :D :D :D

Yeah, Im aware of the Time article about the guy who claims that our generation will likely live forever, wasnt it his belief in some nano technology that would fully decode DNA or somesuch?I just hope with the invention of the tech, and it will come, that humanity strives to a life with some greater purpose.
