I haven't trained in 2 months. I feel the same mentally (at the moment I feel great). But you lose that connection with your body. You are just a shell when you don't exercise.

Training on a Hoist is like riding a drunk donkey, so I'm not so sure if that improves your mental health :-\

You need to know which mental illness and its patterns. Then the personality of the sufferer and on top it's highly recommended to have a specialist in tow for "special" people.
