Cliffs Notes......
California is a one-party state dominated by a virulent Democratic Left enabled by a complicit media where every agency of local, county, and state government is run by and for the public employee unions. The unemployment rate is 12%.
... the governor proclaimed the rich must pay their fair share
Income of more than $1 million pays the "millionaires' and billionaires'" surcharge tax rate of 10.3%. Brown's proposal would add 2% for income over $250,000. A million-dollar income would then be taxed at 12.3%. ... Brown also proposed a one-half-cent sales tax increase, which would bring sales taxes (which vary by county) to 7.75% to 10%.
...
we don't want to turn down the Obama bullet-train bucks Florida and other states rejected because the operating costs would bankrupt them. Can't happen here - we're already insolvent.
Illegals get benefits from various generous welfare programs, free medical care, free schools for their kids, including meals, and of course, instate tuition rates and scholarships too. Governor Perry, California has a heart. Nothing's too good for our guests.
... more and more of California's public land is off-limits to recreation by the people who paid for that land. Unless you're illegal. Then you can clear the land, set up marijuana plantations at will, bring in fertilizers that legal farmers can no longer use, exploit illegal farm workers who live in hovels with no running water or sanitation, and protect your investment with armed illegals carrying guns no California citizen is allowed to own.
...After driving out the old industrial base (auto and airplane assembly, for example), air and water regulators and tax policies are now driving out the high-tech, biotech and even Internet-based companies that were supposed to be California's future.
No job is too small to escape the regulators. The state has even banned weekend amateur gold miners from the historic gold mining streams in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

According to Ozmo and straw and mal , everything is perfect in Californication.
-
California is fucked, has been for a while.
Many Californias had been fleeing Cali to Washington, and guess what? Their shitty laws and problems follow in their wake.
-
It's real nice here. Seriously. You should all move here.
-

Tens of thousands apparently disagree who are fleeing califnornia.
-
People leave all the time. Most of them are likely unemployed look looking for work.
I am here and its fantastic. Seriously.
-
I have no issue here... Is it a little more expensive than where I'm from... Sure, but then again I am right by the beach.
It's always more expensive by the water.
-
High 60's and sunny here. ;D

Whats a few hundred billion in unfunded pension obligations right?
-
I used to live in Camp Pendleton Ca, loved the weather, hated the attitude of the people in/around LA and hated the prices and political outlook.
Loved the weather and the lifestyle, but not enough to offset dealing with the bullshit regulations and people.
-
Whats a few hundred billion in unfunded pension obligations right?
Not saying I think it's a good thing, but that's going to be almost every state... The premise of getting a pension is ridiculous.
-
I love the people here too. Not soo crabby.

It must be fucked living a feces laden area like south eastern New York. You get hammered every year during the winter months, it gets nasty sweaty humid hot in the summer time. There are mostly hollowed out old drabby brick building everywhere. It gets rainy, smoggy, muggy, slushly, all the time.
Then there's California, Temperate sunny most of the time. Extremely mild winters if you can call it that. I can surf and ski in the same day here. The Napa valley is 10 minutes from my house. 90% of Californians live less than 2 hours from the ocean. And its a beautiful ocean.
And the people here? Well, its very very very common to see a white guy, a mexican guy and a black guy hanging out together.
People aren't tripping all the time and most are pretty friendly.
yep laid back and relaxed. I love it.
-
you fools are so delusional. Municipal bankruptcies are mounting, hundred of billions in debt, tens of thousands of businesses closing and fleeing, but yeah, all is great! :P
-
BTW the illegals thing here...........
Until our elected representatives stop taking money for campaigns and what not, UNTIL MONEY IS COMPLETELY OUT OF POLITICS, the illegal immigrant issue is ALL of ours in every state.
No elected official (save those in Arizona), repub or dem has the fucking balls to do something about it. so before you pussy bitches go on about the illegals here in California look in your own god dam back yard and fuck off. ;D (i say that with the purest of intentions and love in my heart for all mankind)
USA! USA! USA!

Laid back and relaxed? Not in my experience so much. People were stuck up, and had a "holier than thou" vibe. Agree with you on New York.
Like I said, weather and activities Cali rules, but not worth the shitty economy, total lack of buying power, shitty Regulations (Im a hot rodder and a Racer, Cali is on of the most hostile places for automobile enthusiasts) and people cramming their "holier than thou about everyone" opinion down your throat.
Take away your government and peoples attitude, and everything else is amazing.

That song has been playing on the radio for 4 decades ::)
Come move to Oildale, CA you'll fit in fine. You'll relax more, trust me.
-
The 5th largest economy on the planet bleeding companies and people by the truckload. Completely bankrupt. Destroying all industry with stifling regulations.
I vote we HAARP them right into the ocean. That or sell them to China.
Such a shame as it is a beautiful state and I'd love to live there if its people weren't off the fucking reservation.

I don't experience that. And there's tons of cool cars here.
Where did you live here? How long?
(I agree the cost of living is high, but as you conservatives like to say: "shut up and get to work")

How can one get to work with no jobs? You have the second highest unemployment rate in the nation and your government continues to pass regulations that ensure it won't be coming down anytime soon.
-
5th largest economy in the world(and its just a state!) ;D And its an awesome state with skiing, surfing, hiking, mountain climbing, great roads for fast cars, beaches, casinos, tons of them now, hollywood, venice beach, napa valley, tons of opportunity, lots of fresh produce year round, etc....
Ahh my heart

Actually, I believe it's down to 7th now. I should have googled it. Either way, you people have done a fantastic job running it into the ground.
Like I said, it's an awesome state. The govt., on the other hand, is not.

I am self employed, i don't depend on a what some company do for me. Ask 333333 about that. that's why he owns his own company.
And frankly when rest of the world is on its ass, the 5th largest economy in the world will be too.

There are 50+ million people in California. That makes you larger than all but 24 countries in the world.

Compton City Councilwoman Janna Zurita owes her Hispanic last name to a grandmother from Spain, whom she never met. Zurita considers her mother black and said her father “wants to be black” even though he “looks Latino.”
Armed with 2010 census data, a network of attorneys is increasingly targeting local governments – from cities and school boards to hospital and community college districts – for not reflecting the demographics of their constituents.
While the dispute in Compton, where Zurita’s race was under question, pitted Latino residents against the city’s traditionally black leadership, other cases seek to increase minority representation on elected boards that are dominated by whites.
