Title: FLEX magazine's new format
Post by: bic_staedtler on March 09, 2012, 08:53:57 PM
Not that many of you here would give three links of Venom Vince Versace's shit, but:

This month's issue of FLEX is out in its new format.

I don't like it.  I've heard on pbbrw that there was a big shift in staffing between FLEX and MD, and it certainly shows.

While I've been drinking the koolaid for years by reading FLEX, this new format is the reason I stopped reading MD years ago.

Garbage 'scientific' reports so disposable that I'd rather read another article about Arnold's left pec.

Q and A format so ghostwritten and generic that an average reader could have guessed the 'answers', and a stable of current Weider pros that are as bland as gh15's gimmicks.

I always wondered what the Weider empire magazines would look like once the old man passes on, and now I know: it doesn't look good.

I know that 99 percent of the 4 percent of people here who give a fuck about bbing don't read the mags anymore but I'm a throwback or sorts.  I held on to the end, but if this is the direction FLEX is going, that magazine will not survive another year.  I thought it took a turn for the worse once McGough left, and it's been in decline ever since.

It looks and reads like a bad copy of MD now, and MD is bad enough as it is.  There's very little reason to read it now, and that's coming from somebody who's been reading FLEX for a long time.  For those who remember the days of mags, any thoughts?

Is that the bound together pieces of glossy paper with scriblings and pictures of grimacing oily and sweaty muscled men wearing tight clothing or little else?

I used to buy that as a kid. Now, I'd feel the need to wear a trenchcoat and sunglasses, maybe a fake beard

Its bay's fault
