Title: Vegas baby! I never have been there!
Post by: MichaelScottDM on March 21, 2012, 12:43:20 AM
Heading to Vegas for the weekend. Never really been. What's good y'all? Ideas for food and drinks. Please don't respond with "Vegas is gay, save your money". I'm just looking for something different for me and the lady.

I GOT IT!!

kill your babysitter by electrocuting her with a stun gun and slamming her repetitively to the ground, than stuff her carcass in the back of an old Jaguar and burn the thing down in the Nevada desert :)

Good times :)

Great place to eat is in Ceasar's. Called Joe's Steak and Crab. (Not Joe's Crab Shack). Bone-in filet is killer.

There is this one store in the Ceasar's shopping mall if I'm not mistaken that sells all kinds of authentic stuff from movies, celebrities and important people. They even got a collection of real signatures from the first 20-something presidents of USA and stuff like that. They even had some Terminator 1 stuff in there too. I really enjoyed it.

Every time I go to Vegas, it turns into one of those 'Hangover' type events.
I hate going because I can get coke, whores, and booze here without spending money
and wandering around looking for members of the group that have been lost.

Next time it will be just the wife and I, to experience what else Vegas has to offer, maybe
catch some shows or something.
I you like Sushi and Sake, you must go to the Social House.
They have the finest Sake, and some damn good sushi and Kobe beef.
http://angelmg.com/venues/social-house/ (http://angelmg.com/venues/social-house/)
The Kobe beef sliders are one of the best meals I have had in my life.

This is part of the "see the stars" bus tour.  Worth the .50 cents.

As for MD, it all depends on where you are staying.  If the weather is nice, walk up the strip on the side with the Venetian heading towards MGM, then back on the side with the Mirage.

There is good food everywhere.  I can write a list of 50 restaurants and by the time you go there will be 5 more to add.

For HOT smoking pussy go to the Cosmpolitan.  Too bad the weather is cool because their pool bar has serious hoes hanging out.

Walking around can kill 1 day easily.  Stay away from the Paris casino, waste of time, same with the Monte Carlco and MGM.  They are ugly inside and you need to walk a lot to see nothing.  Walk the forum shops at Caesar, some hot pussy in there for sure.  You will most likely see Pete Rose sitting in front of a sports store diagonal from the cigar shop signing autographs.  The old man just does this all of the time.

Keep your eyes open, you see celebs all of the time.  Last time there I saw Brittany Spears, Will Smith and Stallone in different hotels.  I heard about a party that was happening with hundreds of celebs that night but no luck getting in.

I don't think so MOS, we are talking some top notch unique product here. I have a shit load of signed sports memorbilia and some is pretty unique. But theirs is above and beyond. Mostly the Hollywood stuff. Outfit that Michael Jackson wore in Thriller (no I am not a Michael Jackson fan  ;D ) Whitney Houston signed items, guitars by every major player, and they always have something signed by John Lennon.

One other thing, everytime I go in there Pete Rose is there signing stuff, except for 3 weeks ago when I was there. That is the first time he was not there.

I posted about Pete being there on the first page of this thread. It is the first shop in the forum diagonal from the Fuente Cigar bar.  Fucking Pete looks like a loser.

But these places get their stuff from people pawning things, dealers selling things.  Agents are the best people to know because their clients are always looking to make cash and sell personal items.

My first time in  Vegas was 2002 I was early 20s still very into bodybuilding and was there for the Olympia with a buddy who knew Vegas all too well. Back then we partied all night at dre's after hours. I'll never forget seeing my idol Dorian Yates high as fuck dancing on the floor. I was wet behind the ears and believed bodybuilders lived a Spartan lifstyle and only took drugs that would enhance performance. Lol... And then of course there's cormier, Titus. Tons of trashy west coast girls.. Fun times.

Stay at Circus Circus, really low rates and close to everything.  SPICE MARKET BUFFET at Planet Hollywood is incredible for dinner.  For a wild experience, try the MAIN STREET STATION hotel, the buffet is called GARDEN COURT BUFFET- only $10.99 with the hotel's "Player's Club Card".  Any Hotel, just go to the customer service counter FIRST to get one of these, you get discounts on Buffets, shows, whatever.  The MAIN STREET STATION also has special craft beers, different ones for every season and they are super-inexpensive and awesome!!!! ;)

You can't be serious, Circus Circus. Holy fuck man, that is one of the dirtiest hotels on the strip. Plus it has kids running everywhere. You need to quit pinching pennies and check around. Besides you can get in MGM for under $80 a night. I get $39 room rates all the time. If you are going to do a buffet go to Rio's Carnival Buffet. Great seafood and only $18.99 for lunch and $26.99 for dinner. Unless you want to get food poisoning from those cheap buffets. Sorry spritz, not trying to be a dick but come on, Circus Circus??

I should clarify, I know where to stay to avoid the "kid areas", for instance never stay HIGH in the Tower there, as that's where they put them. Many times I get $39 to $49 for a room if I book 3 or 4 nights.  I always stay on the second floor, I know a few management there and they always fix me up.  I never eat there, unless you want some AMAZING Chips and Salsa (Blue Iguana) is a cool place at night- if you know what I mean...
Your choice for RIO CARNIVAL is my second best choice, so we are not far off.  I never recommend nasty buffets.  MAIN STREET STATION is inexpensive, but is a real "underground secret" and is known to many flight crews/pilots.
IF he were going with a girlfriend, than by all means upgrade to the Luxor or MGM.

You could have least had your wife/gf pose on the bed for us.   ;)  Glad you did not take offense to my post. I will definitely check out that buffet next time in town. Yea! Circus Circus is now a dump but the Circus Circus Steak House is one of the best in town and a great place to take visiting guests if you blind-fold them before they enter the casino. But the restaurant interior is pretty damn nice.

A good number of years  back, Circus Circus used to be the place to go to! That's before the days when they lowered the casino ceiling which used to be over three stories high and when and where the circus acts were performed directly over the heads of the gamblers.

The big act I can recall was the trapeze act over the tables and the slot machines and the little elephant that used to roam around the casino floor looking for peanuts in your pockets.

In later visits you'll be able to get the Strip out of your system and stay at the local hotels such as The Silverton or the Orleans or the Palms. Although not as fancy these local hotels cater to the locals and offer better deals with a better chance to walk out with additional money in your pocket..

If and when you should ever stay Downtown .... check out the Gold Nugget where midweek rooms are sometimes offered at $45 per night ..... but do your best to avoid all LV hotels that add on Resort Fees - which are sometimes not disclosed until check out time.

For a different type of buffet ... consider the "M" and The Cosmopolitan. More expensive than the norm but pretty damn good for the price.

Im all set for the Luxor. Cost was a little steep but I assume thats because I'm not familiar with getting the best Vegas rates. Ive already checked out a cool deal where you can use the buffet for $32 all day there and at the Excalibur. I figure this way I can eat at nice places for dinner yet hit the buffet whenever I want a snack or breakfast. Is MGM and Luxor located in one of the nicer spots on the strip?

Yes they are located in a good area, and remember get the best room rate, BE FRIENDLY with the hotel staff and ask for a room with the nicest view/upgrade to a king size bed (since it isn't high season!!!).
Today's Vegas Buffets (especially the recommendations given in several comments) are actually BETTER than going out for a stand-alone dinner...

Exceptions are:  MUST TRY-  Heart Attack Grill, best damn burgers, and FRIES cooked in real lard like the 1950's....  see the video on YouTube

Make sure and take in the freebies as well. The lions at MGM, Bellagio fountains, Mirage volcanos, Treasure Island pirate show. Spend some time on Vegas.com and it gives you a ton of info. Also there is a free tram that runs between Mandaly Bay, Luxor, and Excalibur. If you or your girl wants to shop the shops at Planet Hollywood and Forum Shops at Ceasars are pretty good plus just north of MGM you have M&M store, Coca-Cola store and my favorite, the Addias store. The best pizza anywhere is called Grimaldis. The cook with coal. The pizza takes 4 minutes to cook. Grimaldis was founded in NYC in the early 1900's.
If you want to know any other info please feel free to IM me. I have been there a ton of times and have experienced the good and bad.

Absoluteley. Lawry's Prime Rib imo was just so-so for the price. Not much food for guys ours size. Margaritavile at Flamingo is not worth the money, MGM breakfast buffet is one to pass on, House of Blues- Mandalay bay= YUCK, I did not think and Spago was anything special. Besides that most places I have been to is pretty top notch. I do stay away from most buffets.
A bit of a hidden secret is Garudnos at the Palms. Fajitas at their finest!
http://www.palms.com/dining/las-vegas-gardunos-mexican/

And naturally you can't go to Vegas without hitting the In-N-Out off of Tropicana if you do not have them in your area like me.

GREAT info Bro, I have to write Garudnos at the Palms down for next time- I'm a CORN tortilla fanatic! Have you tried Pizza at New York Pizza (New York New York Hotel)???  I thought it was authentic, even BETTER than Brooklyn or Queens...

Yes, had their pizza but IMO nothing comes close to Grimaldi's. Even the pizza places in Chicago I have ate at. But Chicago pizza is a whole different type of pizza.
There is a chef at the fajita counter at Garudnos and you customize your fajitas anyway damn way you want. I have ate Mexiican food all over the US and nothing as good as this place? Oh yea, it is all you can eat dude, so go hungry. Also if you warn to see the UFC training center where they film the Ultimate Fighter PM me. It is less than a mile from the Palms. It"s location is a big secret.
