Many people ask me if the protein shake is a proper meal replacement. the short answer is yes.
The protein shake is very important to meet your daily protein goals. Depending on what kind of protein powder you buy and how many scoops you use... Your looking at 60-120 grams or more of protein just from your shake.
However I must be the advocate here for real food. Your body responds much better to real food and it also FILLS you up. Chugging down a shake will only make you feel bloated and full for a short time. Real food can keep you feeling good for hours on end. Real food also contains many other nutrients.
Many people say to me - "well Jakesonyou I am on a budget, can't I just have 3 shakes instead of chicken?" Yes you can. But again, it won't fill you up and you lose out on other great nutrients. A shake a day is great, but eat some real food too!
So you should always drink protein shakes. Regardless if you are on a budget or not. Protein shakes are a supplement. They are fantastic, but alas to not replace real food.
hope this helps :)
