This one is an excellent buy at 179.99. I was blown away by the tone and craftsmanship. The best cheap guitar one could buy.

Why the fk would you buy a new guitar for £179?
I play myself and the amount of times I have found secondhand jazzmasters/fender strats for less than that ::)
I seriously do not understand why you would want a 'new' cheap guitar if you are starting out, when you can get one of the best of the mid range guitars secondhand for less - that's just me though lol.
To top it off you get a guitar that is nicely worn in and sounds 5 x better, replace the old strings with a nice set of 10s and your good to go (i mean play some blues 8))
Ah yes the amount of times I have gone into a guitar store and spent an hour trying each of the most expensive guitars but only playing texas flood on each one oh brother 8) 8)

I like new because of the gloss. ::)
I looked around for a used strat and couldn't touch one for less than 500 around here unless it was Mexican. Although those are fine guitars as well. I am not a great player. I have just been messing around for 28 years so. I saw the reviews for this guitar and decided to try it out. I was impressed. My other telecaster is about 25 years old and I got sick of it.

Fair game, strats are pretty cheap in uk picked up a classic sunburts 5 years back for £220
28 years, can you play smoe on the water yet lol ;D
-
no no dude. Never ever buy squiers. They shound horrible.
For that price or a little bit more you can buy a very decent ibanez (350 f.ex).

Not an Ibanez fan. Believe me..I wanted to be. Steve Vai was/is a master but my playing sure didn't sound like his. The neck was too thin for my tastes. To be honest though when I played one a long time ago I only had some Crate amp with no pedals or anything. Effects take you to the next level. At least for me since I pretty much suck with stock shit.

i like thin necks, I don't have big hands or longer finger. I like narrow, thin necks.
Same for women, easier to choke. :D

Been thinking about picking one of these up.

just go to guitar center and play anything of interest.. there often are hidden cheaper guitars may that perform better than some of the costlier versions as a result of how inconsistent qa is with most brands

Those PRS's are gorgeous !
Bring your VISA card though :-[
-
YEAH!!!! Those are some badass axes

Where's On_Swole? or aka Sean Maloney? He's big into guitar's, sell's em on Ebay as well. Quite a fella he is, quite a fella.

I'm so glad I don't have any superexpensive hobbies right now.. I've done it all: instruments(both bass and drums), RC helicopters(oh brother) and photography. I've spent so much fucking money on shit that although fun, was not super-necessary.

Nothing wrong with squires mine sounds great after pickups were switched out. I do like the prs guitars, could never afford a proper one. I was thinking of adding a prs se 245 in tobacco burst to my collection. I also like the yjm strat just because. Best pups I've heard though are the dimarzio paf pros in my USA strat
-
parker fly mojo.
youll never want to handle another guitar again.
-
If you're starting out, yes buy a piece of shit, cheapest possible. It's not like expensive guitars give you talent or skill.

-

That particular PRS runs goes for $3500.00 give or a take a couple hundred.
I've come down with a serious case of GAS ( Guitar Acquisition Syndrome ) lately. Unfortunately, it's spreading to include amps, effects and recording equipment too. :(
I'm seriously considering picking this up too.

Not 100% sold on the purchase yet though. I trying to justify the extra $$$ vs sound quality when compared with a POD HD-500.
-
just remember EVH made his guitar from a reject body, rigged pickups, a mix and match neck, and a home paint job.
nice equipment ain't doing shit for nobody. find out whether you can play or not before you start wasting money.
-
I think that FRAKENSTRAT was worth $25k

if you are just starting out you dont need that shit. Just a small all-tube amp will work.
champion 600 reissue is badass and cheap. Plus you can crank it in your apartment or house and get those sweet tube overdrive sounds and not piss anyone off. plus alot of artist use it to record as well.

yeah, a replica. same piece of shit, just goes to show that people are only paying for the name. if EVH had never made it, the original frankenstrat wouldn't be worth shit, it would just be another mix and match homemade guitar. and if the frankenstrat had something special about it, he wouldn't have started playing peavys and ernie balls.
the guitar doesn't make the musician

they sure as fuck help tho. i played shit guitar for years (still do every now and then for kicks). Once i switched to an American stats, it was like heaven. So much easier and funner to play on.

The difference in playability between a good instrument and a cheaply made one is huge. I've played on hundreds of instruments in my 30 years of playing and agree with you 100%. You could always luck out and get a rare jem ( pun intended) of a guitar when purchasing an el cheapo model, but in the majority of instances you get what you pay for.

For a novice, that would probably suffice. But in my case, I'll add some amp modelling to my arsenal of amps.
-
i can play secret agent man on a guitar , when the saints come marching in on the piano, and i can kind of sort of play most rage against the machine songs on the drums. well, i basically just cross my hands and put my foot on the pedal and go crazy and it sounds kind of similar to their drumming. ;D
while i fucking suck at instruments, i bet i out dance and out sing all you legendary musicians 8)

Tombs shut up lol. Don't you find the agile 'thin' sounding? They look great but the difference in tone is very noticeably thinner. I've never liked ibanez, most are cheap cheap sounding guitars, like a old computer game. Though I do like the js series. I've alway stuck with Marshall valve states and line 6 sound modeling. The yjm fury pickups, bare knuckle and pafs are th best pups I've heard.

I may save myself a couple grand and pick up a Line 6 POD-HD 500. Gonna do some store sampling today to see if the AXE-FX ii is worth the extra cash when compared to the Line 6.

Buddy of mine has the X-3 live and from what I've heard it's pretty accurate with it's amp modelling. I've been checking out comparisons between the AXE and POD on YouTube and tend to think it's not worth the extra cash at this point for the AXE, but I'm going to try them out in person today before I decide. Thanks for the input.
-
Just remember line 6s amp modelling has got so good even Marshall asked them to make a Marshall amp.
-
nope, already got my banjo

Just want a Rick, that's all..... :)

I don't know about the best sound you can get but yes it does the job for an amateur recorder. I use Guitar Rig.

guitar rig is basically crap...
try this
and find a plug-in for a wide range of EQ to get the sound you want... and don't skimp out and go cheap on the speakers.
if you want a bit more of a "traditional" setting... i'd just go with a fender frontman and a digitech RP-5000 pedal. The range of sounds you can get on the RP-5000 is pretty much infinite. you just have to spend some time tweaking it to get the exact sound you want.
-
Pod hd 500 nice. i love the way the sound can truly break up like a valvestate amp. did you test it out alongside the one you were going to get? and guys don't get that fender champion is sounds awful with any gain put through it and actually sounds very little like the original on a clean setting.
