is it good or bad for building strength? it takes out most lower body
ed coan does it in his warm ups all the way up to some heavy ass weights
he also does it on wide grip and incline benches always

I do this sometimes myself, but it's more to look "advanced" to the other, smaller members

i tried it today 5x5x100kilograms and it was very difficult feels more on the chest than normal bench
normal bench i can do this 5x5x107.5kilograms perhaps so it doesnt seem that much harder

I'm not sure if it does anything beneficial but I do it from time to time. I like to change things up and keep it fresh.

It takes the leg drive out of the lift, so it's not a bad thing for turning the lift into more of an isolation type exercise. Personally, I'd probably put them at the back of a bench workout. Get the big lifts out of the way using competition form, then knock off whatever else using the legs up style.

Why would you do this? it makes you less stable but doesn't load the pecs any more (just the opposite)
dont use leg drive but keep your feet on the floor to stay tight. bench is a dangerous lift if you mess up the groove

Guess it makes you pay more attention to stability, but I don't think it will give you more size or strength..
