Hours before unemployment officials were to determine whether he was physically fit for work, an Austrian man sawed off his left foot with an electric saw, Austrian broadcaster ORF reported.

The 56-year-old man had just learned that his benefits could be slashed if he did not accept work found for him, the Daily Mail reported.

He reportedly placed the severed foot in a wood stove to make sure doctors could not reattach it to his leg.

Man, that's dedication to the cause - way to stick it too the man - lets see em figure a way to not pay the dude now! That man should receive a government pension just for dedication and effort to stay on welfare -

make this a prerequisite - say to the young fellas, do you really want your welfare, then prove it - off with ya foot then, go on - you don't want to work, so you don't need the foot - I reckon you could make a reality TV show out of this - work out the equivalent welfare payments left on a bludgers life and offer up that amount for him to saw of a foot on TV - the money raised from the show can then be used to pay the man and cover the cost of the government keeping him on welfare for the rest of his life. Everyone wins, the public get to see some weird twisted shit, the government saves some money and the bludger get his money!

Smart man. The wood stove would bring out the full flavor of the foot. I'm sure Adonis would have a killer recipe for such an occasion.
