Pink Floyd always rocks, their songs if you listen to the lyrics most all the time tells a story about life.

Yes their music even instrumental tends to hit the brain/subconscious bringing thoughts that you dont notice with the conscious mind taps the brain in a strange way.

For anyone not born before 1970...whats pink floyd???

This Youtube comment basically summarises Pink Floyd for me:
"How many times did you rush out to grab the latest Floyd album, get home, put it on and think, hmm? that wasn't what i expected, not right happy with that. Listen again and think, yeah, i guess it's ok. Listen again and thing fuck it's pretty good really. listen again and think OMFG WOW! and what? 30+ years later you listen to stuff they did all that time ago, the less obvious stuff like this and all those incredible memories just flood right back. That's music!"

Floyd is pretty awesome, although Im not a fan of Gilmores Floyd. After Waters left, they lost their edge.

This album pretty much defined an entire year of my life in the mid to late 90's.
Atom Heart Mother and Obscured by Clouds are two of their very best.

My Dad was a very cool Dad.
I was in pre school, and listened to Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 on a Philly station in his car. I still recall that day because the music gave me goose bumps. In my head was "We don't need no education...we don't need no thought control..."
For my birthday, he got me the double album.
I still have it in damned near pristine condition.

Saw them live in '94. Here's another epic:

Hahaha yes good summary. Perfect contrast to today's 'hits' where the following happens:
You rush out and buy the latest album by (insert gay c unt here / bruno mars / neyo / rhianna etc) and you're like "Whoa this is some good catchy shit!" so you replay it 5 times. Listen again and its like "Hmmm only really one track on that album that sounds like it got a days work in the studio..." Play it a week later...."Shit I hate this fucking tune! why did I buy this bollocks?" 1 month later "Lol, I can't believe I actually bought this crap." 6 months later (while going thrugh their ipod) "Who the fuck is neyo?"

Too bad most people seem to forget that PF = Roger Waters. So it ended when he left (84 or 85 ?)
-
I actually prefer gilmour's vocals but I agree that when waters left it was not pink floyd anymore.
