I have taken down bigger dudes than this, its not a big thing you just have to be fast and make your mind up before it all goes down, most people loose a brawl because their mind isn't set, they worry about consequence (what if I hit him too hard and he dies?) and other things.

Yes. That is assuming we are dealing with a trained fighter. If an overgrown bodybuilder slaps your partner's ass, you have just as much of a chance of beating him in a fight as he does you, assuming you are both untrained fighters. If anything, his lack of stamina and flexibility due to his overgrown muscles would possibly serve as more of a detriment to his ability to inflict any sort of harm on you. Having muscular arms doesn't necessarily translate into hitting harder. Guys like Ronnie Coleman or Kevin Levrone in their prime would hit much softer that any featherweight boxer on this planet. All of that muscle is a detriment to executing a proper punch.
Now, assuming the boyfriend is a skinny guy with a few months on MMA training under his belt, I can easily see him beating the living shit out of an overgrown bodybuilder that is not a trained fighter whatsoever.
Remember guys, in the streets once you find yourself facing an opponent who wants to bash your head in, you can't just start striking mandatory poses and hope that he would follow suit in order to beat him in a posing round. That guy will beat the shit out of you..

My former 185lbs self would kick the shit out of my current 220lb lethargic ass.
If a guy is naturally big and muscular, that is different. Gaining extra muscles in the gym is hardly
a good way to go about being a better fighter. Lean and mean, with increased strength via the CNS
is what would make a better fighter. There's a reason guys like GSP train like Oly lifters instead of
bodybuilders.
Training to fight is what makes you a good fighter. A 145lb boxer would wipe the floor with a 230+lb
bodybuilder with no fight training.

well it's obvious that training to fight would make you a better fighter, but i doubt you'd be fighting UFC guys very frequently. against the average drunk fool in a bar, i'd imagine your increased mass would definitely help. not to mention the aggression/strength advantages from aas.
on another note i don't see why boxing would be mutually exclusive to bodybuilding, maybe not professional-level boxing but i imagine learning to properly throw a few basic punches and doing enough cardio to not get winded after 5 seconds would go a long way in those types of situations.
i carry a ccw but plan to learn at least a bit of martial arts to defend myself
