"Two Maryland public school teachers and a school administrator have claimed the second of three Mega Millions jackpot tickets, according to officials.
Even with their newfound fortunes, all three told Martino that they would keep their jobs at the school."
Millions in the bank and no plans to get off the public teat.

It has nothing to do with the money.. They want to maintain complete authority and power trip over children, who can do little to defend themselves. Imagine playing with little brats futures every day and being able to destroy it in a heart beat if they piss you off.

Yep, nothing to do with wanting to do something useful ::)

There are THOUSANDS of programs they can volunteer to help children for free where they can make just a big of an impact on their life... However, none has the power over a student like a teacher does.

I vote for sarcasm from Tre. I know this is getbig and all, but no way someone is that dumb as to start this thread

Mega = million.
Mega million = million x million.

Um, why should they quit their job because they won the lottery.
Sorry, but a very stupid post. But for some reason I think you're just messing around! Shoot, I really do hope so.

You would really have to like your job to not quit. Most people work for money. No money from boss-->people stay home.
If these cats really like their job, good for them. Most would quit and have orgies in Thailand (I did it without the lottery, yay! :D) and just enjoy the rest of their lives.

The three winners have chosen to remain anonymous but did allow the lottery officials to reveal some details about them. All three reportedly currently work multiple jobs just to pay their monthly bills. Even with their newfound fortunes, all three told Martino that they would keep their jobs at the school. "One said 'I can't give up on my kids,'" he said
I guess you've never really taught before---parents and students have way more power over the teachers than the teachers have power over the kids. One of the reasons why the school system has gone down the tubes...

I agree

I doubt most teachers have ever expected to make a lot of money teaching. Most choose to teach for the reward of influencing youth and making a difference in the world. Some are, obviously, just plain ol dirty pedophiles. So, maybe these few are in teaching, and have been, for all the right reasons and want nothing more than to continue.

Those who can, do, those who can't, teach.

Some start off teaching, get their Masters, figure out that teaching is for the birds, and then go onto Administration--that is where the money is. Who wants to be around a bunch of brats who expect you to Give them grades, their parents expect you to GIVE them grades, and the Admin and Principals don't have your back? Who'd want to sit around and teach to a test so that the school looks good when it comes to standardized tests? Some then go onto being professors (bypassing the grade school route), where there is more money.
Due to less quality of people becoming teachers today, you have a glut of people who need not be in the classrooms, but need to be painting houses, mechanics, doing nails, porn, or cheerleading

And those who can't teach, supervise and command.
