Super strong lift by stan...BEAST
-
Good form from Stan.
Beats the shitty technique he had getting his powerlifting "record". Those judges need to hang their heads in shame.
-
Stan owned that weight, Dj owns stan
-
another day and time..
-
Fuck its like comparing apples and oranges. Ones a bber and the other is a Powerlifter. What has Stanley acheived in the bbing world? Worlds strongest BBer? ::) By all accounts DJ is as strong as fuck as you can see in the other video.

Well, Stan is both a pro bodybuilder AND a champion powerlifter, so ... ::)
Dennis' strength isn't NEAR ol' Stan's. And from these videos of DJ, it's obvious those "spots" were helping a-plenty. Even just fingers-on-bar alleviates a lot of weight from the lifter. Not to mention he barely made a few reps with 405, forget about 495.
-
kevin shits both of them

Ego training.... He needs to drop that weight....
If you can't at least do one rep by yourself what's the point

Cormier was sopposed to be SUPER strong too if I remember. What a shame he couldnt have done more with his amazing potential. Perfect structure, tiny waist, sick legs. He could have challenged Ronnie but we will never know

No shit. It's why I switched to powerlifting. I am better built for pure strength training and strength sports.
(However, I did compete as a bodybuilder, which is a hell of a lot more than what a majority of gym "bodybuilders" can boast. I actually stepped onto a stage.)
But thanks for trying to make me feel badly about not having what it takes to achieve a goal I stopped caring about 17 years ago, dork.
::)

I am in the same boat. Switch to powerlifting from bodybuilding as I was much more suited for it. I was placing 3rd on a good day in local shows and winning powerlifting shows. Obviously one was much better for me.
I love bodybuilding and I love powerlifting however I am obviously much more suited to the latter.

How are you more suited to powerlifting? I take it youre a fat arse.

Wish guys would get called out more often for shit like that. I remember reading in MD once, I think it was Haider claiming 455 for reps on incline, I just burst out laughing. Theres no way, someone say it ain't so lol
-
In the 70's and early 80's I never saw anyone do a half rep or a 3/4 rep bench. Now it seems everyone does it. I don't know how guys claim even a 315 incline if they are not doing a full rep.
Bodybuilding is full of delusional guys that claim to use x amount of weight in the leg press, squats, various chest presses, shoulder presses and such exercises as dumbbell rows. Then you watch these delusional guys and realize they couldn't do one rep with the weight they claim for 6 reps cause they are cheating the movement doing partial reps. Yes if I barely bent my legs when using a leg press machine or stopping a press when I could have lowered the weight another 6-8 inches I could handle massive weights too.

What the hell are you watching?
His squat form is a joke.
- No walk out.... pussy.
- Legs not locked straight before and after squat.
- Depth is questionable.... Upper body is bent over to give the illusion of depth.
Bench, same again.
- Arms not locked out before and after press.
- Head lifted off bench.
- Bar went down on the press at one stage on left side, thats an instant no lift.
-
I like Olympic lifting. Lift the weight over head or not. No way to bull shit it. You say you are strong? Lift that 315 pounds from the floor to over head. Can't fake that.

stan is a beast in this vid

stan is a beast in this vid
In terms of gym lifts he is a beast.
In terms of powerlifting he is a sloppy, poor techniqued beast.
-
those lifts look ok to me..
thats squat was deeper than a lot of other powerlifting squats Ive seen
-
LOL incline pressing 5 plates while lady gaga last through out the gym

Was it? His upper body is so far bent over it gives that illusion. It would have been very borderline in most feds.

the squat itself was deep though

Same here. Even though that sort of strength isn't really respected or as popular here in the west, I think its one of the ultimate feats of strength without a doubt and can't be messed around with. Either you can do it or you can't.

Power is more important in athletics than strength. Olympic lifting should be called powerlifting and powerlifting strength lifting. How many "power lifters" with giant power lifting type squats can't jump or sprint? I never met an Olympic lifter that couldn't jump and sprint well. That's because they train for power. How many big benchers can't punch hard? You need explosive power to punch hard.
