Title: Greetings from Afghanistan
Post by: headhuntersix on April 24, 2012, 09:49:09 PM
Well gents...I'm back in the "stan". This place still blows. I'm on KAF...they have a TGI' Fridays'...so things aren't that bad. The night we got here they rocketed the dog shit out of us but things have been quiet since. I won't be going out and about much this tour but I at a high enough level to know whats going on country wide. I'll let you know what we're seeing. The ANA and ANP are actually better then being reported but the media has turned against the war as have most of you so it doesn't really matter. We're going

Politicians seem to be very on-the-fence about what to do in afghanistan.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has said repeatedly that he wants to see American troops brought back from Afghanistan "as soon as we possibly can," but he has criticized President Barack Obama for publicly declaring the details of an exit strategy.

He wants them home "as soon as possible", which is pretty damn vague.  That can be 10 months or 10 more years.  He's not that clear.  His only criticism of Obama is that he's talking about leaving lol.

fuck the media... Yes it matters... Being against the war doesn't mean we're against the troops.  There's a lot of people including myself that make the clear distinction.  It's the people's duty to judge what is right or wrong with those we've elected and exercise our rights accordingly.  You should support that idea as much as those who support you.

Stay safe.

+1

Even though you may disagree with the government the troops should and will always have our support

yeah, I greatly dislike when people equate wanting to leave the war with hating the troops.

Like Ron Paul  - probably the most pro-troop candidate out there.  Wants to bring the troops home.

Repubs are in a tough spot politiclaly now.  What can mitt really criticize obama for about the wars?  He can nitpick about deadlines, etc... but Obama is essentially keeping the Bush war policy in place.  A policy Romney couldn't stop kneepadding in 2008 when all he could talk about was how soft on terror obama would be.
