Title: The greatest MMA fighter nobody heard of
Post by: A Professional on April 30, 2012, 01:49:55 AM
Yuki Nakai

This man competed sometimes as much as 3 TIMES IN ONE NIGHT against opponents that were MUCH larger than him (Yuki stands at just 5'6'' and weights only 135 pounds!).
(Compare that to Royce Gracie who was actually larger than the average man at 6'1" 175 pounds.) Yuki Nakai is smaller than average, and yet lost only two fights! Of the two fights he lost,
one was with the legendary Rickson Gracie, and after already fighting twice in one night, and with vision in one eye! (he would go on to lose his eyesight due to an illegal gouge from 6'6" Gerard Gordeau--a fight he won btw). This gouge ended his career. This is a tribute to Yuki Nakai--a true samurai!

185 pound, 8th degree black belt Rickson had difficulty with the partially blind 135 pound Nakai.

Nakai fights Gordeau. The fight that ended his career.

Remember that I once read about the gouge - what an gordeaunic asshole.
Reminds me of some of the tall skinhead kickboxers in Austria... from time to time you hear about one of them fucking someone up half their size.  >:(

Nakai was a warrior, Rickson insisted he didnt want to have to go after the eye and win as fair as possible but he unfortunately felt threatened enough to do so in winning.

Yes, Nakai was the GREATEST Warrior in MMA.

What most don't know is that he "hid" that his eye was ruined forever and that he was blind for years after the fight, because he didn't want the sport to get associated with it and get blemished.

He did it for The SPORT!

Now THAT's the epitome of being humble and having the Warrior-Spirit.

Gerard should have been given a career-ending injury from another fighter as payback as well imo.

Takes a lot of heart to do such a thing, not like today, when people complain about the injuries all the time after losing a fight.

"Not to take anything away from the other guy".. but i had actually a broken rib, cracked skull, had a fever, cold, flu, aids, sprained my ankle three weeks before the fight so i couldnt run/kick etc etc

Yeah that's the greatest thing about him. His success was 100% due to technique--nothing else. The guy's head is almost bigger than his torso! He's just pure skill.
A real old school hardcore Jap.

Yep. He should definitely be towards the top of any greatest warrior list. Not the best in absolute terms, but definitely the greatest warrior spirit.

Nakai would put you in a hold you never heard of and you'd die of oxygen starvation for your bullshit!
