Title: Milk - for lactose intolerant - soy milk or almond milk?
Post by: Big N on May 12, 2012, 11:43:18 AM
To those who are lactose intolerant, and of course their stomach doesn't sit too well with diary products. Would you choose soy milk or almond milk?

Lol @ estrogen

I agree with the taste, but they have flavored soy such as Vanilla. Not too shabby. But either way better than almond milk no?

Yeah, i don't think soy does anything substantial regarding estrogen, and even if it did would probably be neglectable.

I really don't like the taste of it, doesn't matter what flavor, it always had that shitty soy undertone/aftertaste. I don't know about almond milk, i haven't tried it. Or maybe it is called something else in my country.

I just really stopped drinking any dairy, or dairy substitutes for that matter.   :)

I haven't touched milk in years, that shit is fucking disgusting. I've substituted organic sugar-free/fat-free soy milk and haven't noticed any adverse side effects from estrogen.

Not soy or almond milk but non-lactose free milk? This shit is getting more complicated than what it is.

Soy milk and soy products are fine unless you consume copious amounts.

An unusual case of gynecomastia associated with soy product consumption. (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18558591)

Give lactaid a try.  Tastes similar to regular milk, but is lactose free.

Lactose intolerance is mainly a modern myth.

You need to consume more than 40g in one sitting, under that intolerance is very rare.

Just get some fucking lactase tablets, they are cheap and easily available and don't buy into the hype of "lactose free" products.

Best thing I have seen is "lactose free cheese" that was 2x more expensive as regular cheese. Problem is, cheese has no lactose.

Lactaid milk is lactose free real milk. It just taste a little sweeter than regular milk. Not a bad thing.  I find it in most supermarkets where I live. A little more expensive but not crazy. With it you get milk protein and calcium in a reduced fat real milk product.

Picked up a carton of almond milk at the store last week to check the ingredients/nutrition.....

Basically, water (lots) + Sugar (some) + a pinch of almond to taste.

Safely to say, I tore it open with my bare hands and drank 2 litres in one go just to see what the testosterone boosting effects would be as I was 5 minutes into my anabolic window

It's bullshit, I live in Japan and Japanese eat a lot of soy products, tofu on a daily basis and many drink soy milk because Asians are indeed lactose-intolerant, caucasians ARE NOT.

There is no proven case for gyno because of soy milk.

IF anyhting, as Dr Dutch said, the isoflavones in the soy will dock to the estrogen receptors of your body and thus KEEPING the body from taking on more estrogen.

Fun fact. Allmost all African(native) people are lactose intollerant by age 20-25. About 75% of all african-americans and 90% of all asians are lactose intolerant by age 20-25.

Only 10% of all whites are lactose intolleant at age 20-25.

By the sales and lamenting of people you would think 90% of people going to the gym are lactose intolerant.

It's all a scam by the supplement industry, first they tell you soy converts to estrogen to make people buy more expensive whey or casein instead of soy protein, then they tell you about being lactose intolerant to make you buy even more expensive whey isolate....

I have dieted solely on soy protein and soy milk to avoid the bloating from milk sugar, and no problems. Soy makes you look more cut.

Now, I often mix the two, 150ml of milk with 100-150ml of soy milk plus 100ml pineapple juice mixed with 1-2 scoops of ON whey vanilla flavor tastes fucking awesome.
