I eat quite a bit of nuts, they are a good healthy snack for in between meals.
Let's try to get a few good sides / bad sides of different nuts together!
1. Walnuts
My preferred nuts, rich in omega-3 fatty acids (ALA).
Problem is they turn bad pretty fast because the fatty acids oxidate, so eat them fast after opening.
2. Almonds
quite high in protein (~20%), high in fiber.
3. Cashews
4. Peanuts

Excellent list!
Cashews and almonds provide omega-6 fatty acids, but only trace amounts of omega-3 acid. But, for most people like us who already consume omega-3 from other natural sources and/or supplements, I don't think it's a problem.
Interesting tidbit on the walnuts. I wasn't aware of the rapid "expiration" of their FA's. That's certainly a consideration to make in purchasing/using walnut oil.

Definitely be careful!! Don't buy walnuts or other nuts in bulk, most will become rancid before you can eat them. Rancid nuts = oxidated fatty acids.
I read a test a few years ago where they said that ALL flaxseed oil that you can buy in a store is basically expired.
Omega-3 oxidate from the moment they are extracted, when you then count in the whole bottling process, transportation to wholesalers, then to end consumer supermarkets and then think how long it might be sitting in the storage before sitting on the shelf for weeks, I would advise to never spend money on normal flaxseed (or hemp oil).
Find a producer that ships to you right away, and tell them you ALWAYS want the freshest stuff.
A lot of people say flaxseed oil tastes like shit, well that is partly because they never had fresh one.
But back to the nuts, I read somewhere that cashews where good for something, but can't find that anymore, it wasn't about the fat I think, but polyphenols or something??

sacrilege that pistachios aren't number 1. Awesome nuts.
