I know what you mean Meso,i`ve known Jason for years,i went to see him a few weeks ago,so i know how tall he is,so i was a bit shocked to see the pic with Roelly and see he is only about an inch or two taller. These are pics from friends pages on facebook, and i couldn`t believe some of the sights on there, guys who don`t even look like they train and yet they walk about wearing a vest and stand there flexing.Ronnie is doing a seminar tommorrow night and its only 5 mins away from my house, but theres not a chance i am gonna spend 35 quid going to listen to him.

WES, I think I gotta argue with ya which I seldom do out of respect for the majority of your  posts and the fact that you have been there and done that for a damn good number of years.

But my argument t just might be due to the fact that I don’t understand your agreement with MESOMORPH that BBing “wont be mainstream anytime soon”.

I gotta somewhat disagree with ya and say that I’m surprised you feel that way because I know you have been around this game long enough to realize that bodybuilding and bodybuilding events have grown from absolutely ‘nothing’ to the huge success it is today with hundreds of contestants competing in these national contests for a ten-cent plastic trophy, national recognition, and the remote possibility of that prized pro-card ….. with thousands of there family members and fans filling the seats.

Back in OUR day these contests were held on basketball courts under a 100 watt light-bulb hanging from the basket with 3 to 5 skinny contenders and approximately 20 family members filling twenty fold-up chairs.

As I’ve witnessed it (and so have you)  …. The lifting game has grown from the nothing that it used to be .. to a major event in a very short time-span.

It may not be mainstream due to the fact that the majority of us’ens cannot do it, nor wish to do it, nor wish to have anything at all to do with it …. as shown by the majority of these GetBig critters and thousands of others through-out the Universe.

BUT you can’t deny the fact that BB has grown phenomenally and that ‘throughout the ages’ the active participants have been the subject of adverse criticism among those wo are not involved.

(For instance – Look at what they did to Hercules!)

But those active participants could care less about what’s been said and what’s been done and continue to lift heavy things (calves and cows in Herk’s time) and do whatever it takes to reach a self determined goal which could be increased muscle-mass, increased strength or simply the ability to beat up the GetBigger next door,

The weight game ain’t mainstream now nor will it ever be, but I see it as somewhat ‘mainstream’ when compared to how it was a few years back. And Herk would definitely agree if he had a say in this matter.

And I know you also will agree …… So what the hell is this argument about anyway!?

More on this but I gotta go beat someone up and calm down a biit.

Crownshep, you know Jason Corrick? I used to know him from my days training down in Somerset - he used to train at a gym called the Pumping Station in Taunton and also Oraton Gym in Bridgwater - he was the first pro bodybuilder I'd ever seen (I was only about 16 or 17 at the time and had only just started training) - huge he was to someone like me back then - as wide as he was tall.

MESO,thanks for responding to the 'stuff ' I addressed to WES.

I don't know how many of these events you've actually attended but I'd guess only a few due to the fact that you seemed to be surprised by what you saw.

And I gotta agree with you because only a dozen or so years ago the people in attendance appeared to be healthy athletes with functional muscle  who could run three miles without falling over.

But a good majority of those in attendance today appear to be what are affectionately known within my rhelm of friends as "Bulky Blunders"
who can omly lift heavy things ........ sometimes.

But there are some guys and gals who will always stand out as the perfect balance of strength and conditioning and health who are most times considered to be "tweebs" by these bigger bulky blunders.

What you saw and so aptly described is getting to be more common each and every year and a reliable source has told me that the bulky blunders will be in complete control within 10 years or so.

Maybe WES would like to argue with this or simply agree and offer additional insite because there is much more to this than I have stated above and only those who have witnessed this physical thansgression  over a good number of years can intelligently comment on.

Good observation, Thanks, MES!

Flex Wheeler was at the expo, evidently looking healthy, huge and radiant. Not in any way could anyone conclude he resembles a shadow of his former drug abusing and decidely charmless, kidney crippling self!
