Slightly different story - has the guy who was planning to jump from the edge of space done his jump yet? It was supposed to be the furthest fall by a human (can't remember his name).

I watched a program on that where some dude in the 1960's did it. He was a test pilot or something, road a baloon to the edge of space, 100,000 feet I believe and jumped. It is on youtube if you look.

I was listening to Radio5Live on my way home just now and they just interviewed this guy - the radio commentator was being a stuck-up prick. Can't remember it word for word but the conversation went something like this:
Radio guy: "So what was the point of all this?"
Stuntman: "Well it's my art form - because it's there to do and it hasn't been done"
Radio guy: "Oh come on, surely you can find better things to do than to stack 18,000 boxes in a field and jump onto them?"
Stuntman: "Well, no - it's a beautiful sunny day and it's better than sitting in a darkened studio wearing headphones and eating junk food"

Reminds me of an interview we did with Brian Buchanan about 20 years back, it was TV and the fat little reporter went along the same lines....
Reporter, "so why would you bother doing all this for?"

ya that was pretty wild. He must have a lot of trust in humanity to do something like that. Travis is as nutty as they come. Isn't he doing NASCAR racing now or something like it?

probably. he was doing the rally car racing for a while. kid is good at everything with wheels. see him in a bobcat when he was like 5?
