Title: 12 months of Rehabilitation
Post by: Billy Guns on May 25, 2012, 11:37:08 AM
It's been a very long time away from getbig and bodybuilding and working out routinely. A diet has become my last thought in my day and drugs went from steroids to narcotics.....In August of 2011 I tore my left rear labrum in my shoulder.....I spent 6 weeks in a sling and 8 weeks in rehab......3 weeks after I was cleared to train again in the gym I woke up partially paralyzed from 4 herniated discs that were crushing my spinal cord.

Feb 28th 2012 I went in for surgery (discectomy and fusion of c4 thru c7) I currently have 4 new discs and a titanium plate with 4 screws holding my spine in place. I am currently 3 months post op and working on getting use of my muscles again with hopes one day of being able to use free weights again like I have in the past....

I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to pay attention to your body after losing the past 12 months with major injuries that forced me to stop working out and eating right.....I am hoping by september 2012 to be back in the gym full time and getting back to a comfortable 230lbs.....I was at a bloated 265 when I got hurt and today am around 205.

I am going to try to attach a few before and afters FLAME AWAY

Not flaming you, but you should just lift to stay in shape and be lean and healthy, you're never gonna look like a freak, muscle bellies and shape aren't there

Wake up like I did in November partially paralyzed and realize how many small things flash before your eyes that you took for granted.....from november til the end of february I had no use of the first 3 fingers on my right hand and I am right handed.....I now have full use of my body but at limited use....I am still not allowed to lift heavy and the new materials in my spine cause constant discomfort

My Shoulder TORE during Military Presses and the neck I woke up this way....I had 4 discs that were herniated and I am guessing I just moved the wrong way in my sleep and they landed right on top of the spinal cord

To be honest Ray I was in so much pain that nothing helped....I wasn't able to sleep for more than 1 hour at a time even when I was taking a soma and narco and hour I was wide awake.......People talk about getting very little sleep well when I tell you that I LOVE SLEEP NOW after going months with ZERO!!! When I came out of surgery I put a not on the door in my room at the hospital that said LEAVE ME ALONE I AM FINE NOW I WANNA SLEEP!!!!

Sorry to hear....Trust me I don't wish this shit on anyone....not even the douchebags I used to hang with in this industry.....I wish I could have avoided the surgery but I had only 1 option surgery.....my spinal cord was a "C" shape from the discs leaning on it

Just stay healthy billy guns, treat people mainly your family and spouse with alot of love. take care of yourself dont do drugs or alcohol, its all not worth it. I used to be a legendary Falcon but now im just normal but i feel GREAT i dont have the pressure on myself to feel like i need to lift 2 or more hours a day, being a slave to looking "just a tad bit leaner" is a dumb way to live life

live life for the long haul not the short term stay off them stupid ass motorcycles too

Good luck Billy!
Take care of your body from now on , eat healthy and start exercising safely in the Gym with a bodybuilding routine when the doctor give a green light.
Start with rehabilitation program that include Dips and Pull-Ups for your upper body strenght and exercise like plank and swiss ball core exercise for your lower back and abs.
Start a cardio program that include at least 3 Powerwalk session of 60' minutes a week.
Most important eat healthy wholesome food diet rich in fruit , vegetables and lean cut of meat.
One more thing Billy : " Remove that ugly tattoo from your arms and in particular the stupid one in your back that say fuck you"!
When we are young we do stupid thing but you should not have to keep the stupid past wrote on your body for the rest of your life!
I hope the best for you Billy! 8)

It has to be really frustrating to have those injuries. When you can recover take your time to get back.  Train strict and don't worry about what's on the bar only if you are training hard. Listen to your doctor concerning limitations.  You can make a light weight heavy by doing high reps and using a short rest between sets. Get well soon.

amazing how you and Derek come from such different places and ended up following the same life path. It looks like destiny if you ask me

I tell you what comes next, after he fully recovered he will go back on steroids, then after 1-2 years max, he will "just try a little bit of speed" again, then next are the painkillers and so on.

The he will come here telling us how far he will go and that we're all fucking haters and so on.

Then again meltdown, rehab, fishing for sympathy until he fries his kidneys or kills himself.

Billy is a typical loser, he will either get happy with being a sales clerk in 7-Eleven and "dream of his past as a bodybuilder" or he will kill himsefl in 5 years.

Sorry to hear you've had all this trouble and you know we pals and all which is why I'm telling you to do a better job of taking care of yourself....and get off those "HRT" meds because you don't need them and they'll do a lot more harm than good.

co you take (350mg (coma) somas. what the fuck is narco? you mean norcos? If that is all you are on you could probably stop that pretty much cold turkey! for someone with that much spine damage I would thinl you would be on a opiate regimen. I cracked my T12 wich is mid-spine and have 6 herniated discs some in the lumbar and some in the neck. After heavy surgery like that they gave you somas and narcos? I think you mean norcos 10mg hydrocodone and 325apap tylenol(aceteminophin). If you dont get any pain relief off that as you stated just taper off completely. thats nothing for someone in your condition! BTW- I have never seen that posing video Holy shit I almost threw-up! how did you place in that show? you might not belieb it I give you credit for getting on stage but people are just laughing at you! I would just retire from bodubuilding ! just lift some light weights and do ome cardio for health.

Your posing days are over unless you are going to compete against goodrum. good luck at least you are not derek with that dunb la cosa nostra tatoo! He is another Don Long at least you have your kidneys I hope!

Billy, trying to live the dream now has you with a fused spine, shouldn't that be a wake up call.

dude, take care of yourself. For the next year only do calisthenics/body weight exercises also take up running and cycling. In reality no one cares about how big you are except for you. Take it back to basics and focus on making money, your friends and family.

That neck procedure is "anterior disc excision and fusion".  It is an extremely common procedure. After fusion takes place you will be absolutely as good as new- no restrictions, no limitations, no excuses.

If you're taking anything for pain longer than 20-30 days afterwards, you're just taking the pills for fun- or you're an addict.

This!!! I had the procedure in November of 2011. I was able to hit the gym at 6 weeks post op. I was back to normal strength and size about 4-5 months later. Just listen to your body and just gradually work up. Skip the deadlifts, squats and anything that could put your spine in a bad spot.

I have permanent damage at the cervical spine with "foot drop" in the right leg from the damaged spinal cord from my herniated discs (C4-C6). It basically means I have stability issues in that leg, maybe for life. But, I can still workout and pick up my 3 year old daughter, which is more important than anything else by far :)

How many times does it have to be told... derek billy, we dont give a fuck about you, your life, your stupidity. To any normal, sane person, you re a loser. There s nobody to "warn".  There are no chances people with a brain would do the stupid shit you did and keep doing, dont worry for them. You re only attempting to sound like a "wise, eperienced" badass, attempting to build a character again, when you just sound like a fucking retard in desperate need for attention. Lol at playing the "wise" man... "i wanted to warn all the young guys on here..." haha oh man  ::). Your constant search for attention is pathetic. You re a nobody, you re not wise, you re just a moron. Cut your internet connexion and get a fucking life. It's not our fault if the only attention you get come from people insulting you on the internet. This is all you re left with; baiting people on the internet so they can beat you up. The only attention you re able to get.
Get the fuck out, everytime you start a stupid thread it turns into a severe bashing of your sorry ass. This thread wont be any different. I suspect you actually enjoy it for some odd reasons.

Oh and next time you get into three consecutive car accidents, please dont fail again and finish the job; just fucking kill yourself as it's what you re really trying to do, ultimately. Just spare innocent people. It's not their, or our fault if you re useless. One might consider these consecutive accidents being another desperate attempt to find some attention from people. What a little attention whoring bitch you are.

Reverend James Warren "Jim" Jones (May 13, 1931 – November 18, 1978) was the founder and leader of the Peoples Temple, which is best known for the November 18, 1978 mass suicide of 909 Temple members in Jonestown, Guyana along with the killings of five other people at a nearby airstrip. Over 200 children were murdered at Jonestown, almost all of whom were forcibly made to ingest cyanide by the elite Temple members.
