Counter to the conservative story line that President Obama is spending more than anyone, the Wall Street Journal recently published a column that debunks that entire talking point.
Obama is slowing the growth in spending better than any other President in 60 years! The growth in the federal budget has grown 1.4% in President Obama’s first term.
The conservatives love to point to Reagan for fiscal responsibility, but as outlined on the chart, Reagan's growth in Federal spending was over 8% in the first four years and an average of 6.8% his entire Presidency.
Before Clinton was met with the Republican revolution, spending was already low, at about 3.2% but increased under the Republican revolution of 98-01 to 3.9%. President Bush took the same unfortunate route as Reagan, and spent like crazy at an average of 7.7% increase in federal spending!
For Obama's first budget in fiscal year 2010, growth fell 1.8%. If President Obama wasn’t facing the Bush era financial collapse, the outcome would be even better.
These historical statistics prove that President Obama is not a spending obsessed socialist, and contrary to what conservatives would like everyone to believe, he is hugely responsible. A drop in growth of 1.8% in 2010 during the height of a crisis is extremely significant.
Barack Obama is a very tight walleted leader and yes, many times more fiscally responsible than any other president since the 1950s. Well done Mr. President.

Yet again, we've been through this, the links have been posted, the articles discussed and the debunking done.

It's easy to miss 3333's threads/posts. There's only so many rage filled frothing at the mouth posts one can stand to read before saying fuck it and skipping over them. Plus just the fact that he posts a novel worth of material every 3 days makes it a full time job just to read everything lol.

how about you link your shit before asking for links from others?

Just go to "democratic underground." That's probably where he gets most of his material.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2012/may/23/facebook-posts/viral-facebook-post-says-barack-obama-has-lowest-s/
"Nutting attributed spending from the first year of every presidential term to the previous administration, arguing that every new president starts their term four months into a fiscal year begun under their predecessor."
from the politifact article...when was the stimulus passed? thats right, so the article 240 posts calculates that the stimulus bill was on bush's watch.
ALSO FROM THE POLITIFACT ARTICLE
"There’s a widespread misconception that we gave a Mostly True rating to Rex Nutting’s MarketWatch column. After our original fact-check published, White House spokesman Jay Carney tweeted, "PolitiFact backs MarketWatch analysis of federal spending under POTUS & predecessors." Many conservative bloggers read our fact-check the same way, as they attacked us."
PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE FIRST SENTENCE!!!

They just changed it. I also wasn't posting it to say it was true. A lot of people were clearly pissed at politifact over this.

How can someone claim to watch the news all fucking day and be so clueless as to the fact that this was debunked days ago? What an ignorant c*nt. Really turning this board into a shittier version of the G&O with all the lies and fairy tales.
And let's be honest, even if it was true, do you really think it smart to be bragging about Obama only increasing spending 1.4% given how far into debt we are and how Bush was constantly criticized for being a big spender?
Funny me but in my world one can actually spend less than they did previously. ::)

i haven't watched the news much at all lately.

Sure you haven't. ::)
You're the perfect case study for how terrible MSDNC is.

Fucking retarded. The dumbasses atrribute fiscal year 2009 to Bush which is vastly overstated at best and a complete lie at the worst. The only part of fiscal year 2009 that Bush is responsible for is TARP, and that was paid back. Everything else is on Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid. Bush never signed off on the fiscal year 2009 budget. Obama did that in March 2009.
Yes, I know things like the stimulus were a disaster. We told you that was going to happen. Please dont pretend that it didnt happen. Take responsibility for your failed policies.

The problem with this analysis is that it includes '09 as Bush's year, even though the '09 budget was unusually large so it gave Obama a high starting point and it was the Democratic Congress that wrote and passed the '09 budget and it was actually Obama who signed the fiscal year '09 budget!!! And of course, several other major spending wills were initiated by Obama in '09, such as the $800bn stimulus package.
So, basically, Obama and the Congressional Democrats boost spending by 20% in 2009 and then they blame that on Bush while slowing the rate of growth in spending after their one-year binge.
