Owning a dog like that is marrying Ms. Olympia.  You need to be something perverse.

On the subject of recent discoveries to show the rest of getbig, check out this picture I found of this black bodybuilder guy - quite a good most muscular pose (could be up there with the best one day)

They'd probably die
in a 2000 Scientific American special edition called "Building the Elite Athlete", they show a young black I'd with Duchenne's muscular dystrophy---the kid has traps, huge delts, huge calves (high inserts); but signs of muscle wasting are already present.

More to the story...

i'd never use roids... but i'll be first in line for gene therapy  ;D

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myostatin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myostatin)

Performance enhancement in dogs
A "bully whippet" with a homozygous mutation in myostatin.[19]

A 2007 NIH study in PLOS Genetics[19] found a significant relationship in whippets between a myostatin mutation and racing performance. Whippets that were heterozygous for a 2 base pair deletion in the myostatin gene were significantly over-represented in the top racing classes. The mutation resulted in a truncated myostatin protein, likely resulting in an inactive form of myostatin.

Whippets with a homozygous deletion were apparently less able runners although their overall appearance was significantly more muscular. Whippets with the homozygous deletion also had an unusual body shape, with a broader head, pronounced overbite, shorter legs, and thicker tails. These whippets have also been called "bully whippets" by the breeding community due to their size. Despite the name "bully", these dogs tend have a friendly and positive demeanour towards people as usual for whippets.

This particular mutation was not found in other muscular dog breeds such as boxers and mastiffs, nor was it found in other sighthounds such as greyhounds, Italian greyhounds, or Afghan hounds. The authors of the study suggest that myostatin mutation may not be desirable in greyhounds, the whippets' nearest relative, because greyhound racing requires more significant endurance due to the longer races (900 meters for greyhounds vs. 300 meters for whippets).

wrong, the dog is faster but only at very short distances, it does not have the endurance for the standard length whippet races.  This is why olympic lifters are faster in the 5 yd dash than sprinters.  More muscle means capacity for explosive acceleration.  Think Leroy Burell, notoriously fast out of the blocks.

The dog runs awkwardly, not in the smooth double suspension movement of less muscular Whippets. Whippets that look that this are usually put to sleep as pups.
From my understanding Whippets not Greyhounds carry this mutation, and there are three versions of musculature: 1. normal sleek, 2. Slightly muscular, 3. This overly muscular version.
1&2 are fast, have normal jaws, 3 is just awkward, runs weird, has a undershot jaw, and possibly smaller organs or enlarged heart (speculation).

O lifters train, but are NO Where as muscular as this dog, not even close...
this is a look that has no function whatsoever...in fact it's a hinderance.

Do you guys need anymoe proof that we are just animals.  We react just like any other animal does when they get injected with steroids.  I'm starting to thing that guys like Coleman could gain muscle by curling pink 5lb lycra weights.

it runs normally just does not have endurance, check the video on youtube.  ANd no they are not put to sleep they are just rare, and on whippet forums people show them off.  I'd be interested in reading anything about them though, even if it contradicts me, so please provide.

I checked the vids, it doesn't run normally---which is the main reason why they aren't more in racing...it has no advantage. If it did, then they would breed more of them. and from what I've read---one of the main rasons why they are rare is because---they aren't wanted...aka put to sleep. But, also they are rare to begin with.

I didn't see much movement. It seems like the owners were getting more of a workout just clapping . It look like too much weight for the dogs. One had no grip.
Compare that to the dogs pulling cars vs the sleds.
