Everything looked cool until I saw the dude rail slide a fucking dirtbike. If that was the only cheesy part I'd say it could be cool.

Jeremy Renner is not an action hero.

Jeremy Renner is not going to do justice to the other Bourne films.

The whole idea is big fuck up designed to make the studio money at the expense of a fantastic trilogy.

I think it looks good, apparantly it takes place at the same time as the events in the last matt damon outing.
Last movie I saw with Renner he had some good fighting sequences and was convincing.

Its not only that its the whole - pretty defenseless girl meets super soldier type of scenario that bores me to no end.
But what ever I might be getting old.,

Anyways, the Bourne series was from the beginning NOT about an "action hero", but a "normal" guy that finds out he is trained as a killer.

He is SUPPOSED to look like you and me (well not like me, he would be an action hero then), and just be able to do stuff he was trained.

People seem to not understand this.

If anyone has read any of the books (and they are confusing as fuck) the guy who is the head of Treadstone who gets capped at the end of the Identity (too lazy to look up his name) is still alive in book #4....in fact, he and bourne are good friends.

Very true - and Matt Damon was believable as the everyman who is secretly a highly trained ass kicking machine, whose only reality at the start of the first film, is that he has skills.

Jeremy Renner I watched last night in The Town. He's just ......not. He'd be too small to even get selected for the same program Bourne was involved in!

And I agree about the books - they're really not that great in comparison to the films (which is usually not the case at all). Story is ok (different to the films) but the characterisation is really poorly done.

But even the dude in the books was more convincing than Jeremy Renner will be  ;)

Because the first three films were about high art--not money.  Right?  ::)

What are you talking about? The military/cia/etc doesnt  care how short/small someone is. Operators, for example, are not big people, on a whole. Theyre usually average height, low/average bodyfat, average weight. Size/mass means nothing to these types of people.

There are exceptions, but usually theyre so extreme that they wouldnt have even been able to join the military because of it

The move the Bourne Legacy is not even related to the books. The Bourne series continues on after Robert Ludlum's death. Eric Van Lustaber is writing them. The character Jeremy Renner plays is not a pivotal part of the main series. This is Hollywood deciding to reboot a great franchise in a different direction with "creative" selectivity and just a faint glossing over of the main books. Regardless, Renner is more of a super hero type than Matt Damon. He rocked in the Avengers and was good in his role in MI4: Ghost Protocol. I say give it a chance. It may be entertaining. However, if you have read the books it is not a direct translation.
